It was fun while it lasted..
I know I'm a Ford newbie as I've only had my F-150 since mid December.. But today this happened to it.. I'm 99% sure it's totaled. I can guarantee that the entire driveline is majorly screwed up. The engine runs but the trans sounds horrible -- grinding and whatnot. Ouch!! I was probably doing about 40-45 at the time, this street has a 50MPH rating. The guy that hit me was doing 90+ and was drinking. He ran off after the accident according to people that saw him. None of my airbags deployed for whatever reason. I guess I won't need that transmission recall now..
I guess I'll see what the insurance company does with it.. For now I've got another vehicle (not a Ford) but hopefully I will have another F-150 sometime.. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...8e6dd7451.jpeg The tow truck driver told me that he had NEVER seen a truck bed folded up like this before. He sees this stuff daily... |
I have seen them fix much, much worse. They can/will fix that. |
Wow, did he damage the tailgate at all? |
I guess I’ll find out soon enough. The tailgate interestingly enough got away with little damage.. |
It would be interesting to see what it looks like when the bed is removed. Straighten the frame, new bed/tailgate and paint? I did did this twice with a Nissan 100 hundred years ago. |
More than likely there would need tranny work and possibly others in the driveline.. if you’re interested I’ll keep you posted the Honda won’t be resurrected.. waaay to far gone.. |
Are you 100% sure it’s tranny issues? A hit like that could snap an axle or mess up the pumpkin and gears. |
No, I’m not sure.. I’ll be patient and let the insurance company do it’s job... |
holy crap that was a hit. and the reason why the bags didn't fire..it wasn't a frontal impact.

@ps23Rick I hope you're feeling OK. I got rear ended while sitting at a stop light by a car going approximately 30 miles an hour. This was back in 2004 and I was only 18, so my body seemed to absorb the impact much better than I know it would now. Please, have everything checked out and report any, I mean ANY, abnormality of feeling in your body. It may take a few days for any soreness and issues to creep up. Rear impacts suck.
That said, like you mentioned, let the insurance do their thing. I hope LEO were/are able to track down the person who plowed into the back of you. Good luck. |
