I was driving and ran out of gas. I did not bother to look at the gauge because I figured there would be some sort of alert to those who don't pay attention. I heard no beep or alert . I did see the screen that said very very low fuel. Why did they take the chimes out?

From the position of my steering and the seat I can not even see the gauges when I am driving. Anyone else ran out f gas and noticed there is no audio alert?
First time ever running put of gas. In 24 years of driving. Smh

I don't know if the F 150 has ever chimed for low gas, or if there might be a setting in the options to turn such a thing on and off.....you do know that running out of gas is very hard on these new fuel pumps, right?
I've always told people that it costs the same to run off the top half of the tank as it does the bottom half.........lots of help, aren't I?

2009 and up have a low fuel warning. Maybe all the older models too. I think my old '83 F150 with duel tanks had a red light of something.

My 2011 XLT has a warning that comes on with about 100 miles of fuel left. I know it lights up the entire display orange, and "miles until empty" all turns from green to orange. I also get an warning chime.
Between the radio, kids phone text alerts and whatever else is going on I know I have looked down and wondered how long has that light been on.
