Default Fuel module or is it the pump!

2009 F-150 4.6L Super crew 115 000 kms

Make a long story short- wife had issues starting here and there and now cranks no start.
  • I have swapped relays around to verify fuel pump relay
  • fuse number 27 is ok (so are all other ones)
  • disconnected fuel line at rail, no fuel pressure present. None during crank
  • no initial fuel pump sounds when key is turned on
  • Tack moves up a bit when cranking
So now im at the fuel pump module. I need the wiring diagram to go further (maybe with some help)
  • with key on I get 12v to one wire (maybe green yelow)
    • the only thing I found online does not match mine. I would like to jumper it to confirm the fuel pump is dead. Being the weekend its hard to get a new module.
    • I can feel the fuel pump connector with my hand but I cant get it off to see if it getting 12v....

I really dont want to drop the tank for nothing. in the snow, no garage and over half full o fuel.

Cheers guys, new to Ford, just bought this at Christmas to relieve repair stress in my life! Ha

my '10 had the fuel pump controller module go bad. it was a simple replace ($80 and 10 min in driveway) and we're back to normal. hope this helps.

I was hoping someone could supply a wiring diagram or a way to jumper the fuel pump at the module before I spend 120$. Im sure I can just jump the 12v supply to the pump wire, I just dont know which is the pump wire. I can reach the fuel pump connector but I cant get it off to verify voltage at the pump.

Hopefully this helps get you started. If you're a DIY'er, getting a shop manual will pay for itself many times over in the long run.

Thanks for the info! I will review it and see if I can jumper the fuel pump.
  • disconnected battery- posts were clean
  • then it started this morning and ran for about 5min then died and wouldnt restart
  • tried battery thing again- no luck
  • swapped batteries (had 11.8V but thought why not) no luck
  • tried with remote car starter- no luck
  • then there was no turn over- disconnected battery and will try in 5 min
Is there something in the security system that could cause the issue?
Is there an inertia switch in the 2009 model?

I am thinking it might not be fuel unless there is a loss of communication between PCM and Module? Fuel Pump Module is 380$ for me here on a Sunday in the great white north.

Looks like if I jumper 1 and 5 the pump will run? Is the other the ground? So I jumper 1 and 5 for voltage and 4 and 8 to close circuit? Turn key to on and it should run pump...I dont want to blow anything.

Default Fixed

So jumpered the fuel pump. It worked. Kinda did all this as I couldn’t get a fuel control module quickly and wanted to eliminate other issues. No inertia switch in 09 models. Verified ground straps. Etc etc

turns out it was the module. Amazon sent one quick. 70$ cad. Better than crappy tire price. All fixed. One up side I learned a bit on my new truck.

thanks for all the help
