Quick question for you guys.

I purchased a set of auto spring 2" leveling spacers for my 2014 last week. No garage in the area wants to install them. Some say that unless I buy through them they won't touch it - fair enough.

I've got most of the tools required for the instal. I'm just missing an 18mm deep socket and a torque wrench but that's a quick trip to the store.

My knowledge with cars extends to pretty much just taking off tires and calipers to paint them on my old focus. Will I have any trouble installing these myself tomorrow? There's several good YouTube videos and I have the instruction sheet from AS as we'll.


As for realigning I've had a garage tell me it wasn't doable to get it perfect so that the tires wouldn't wear out prematurely anymore. He stated he'd go by manufacturer spec and align it as such regardless of the lift. Thinking I'll call elsewhere.

Lemme know if you guys have any experience with these especially if it was your first "big job" with said truck.

I have installed 2 of them and in both cases no issues with having them aligned

They can align it. I think some people just get nervous when owners change the vehicle from stock but the same principles to aligning will be the same. I didn't even tell the shop that I leveled mine when I took it in and they did not say anything about it.

As far a installing it yourself, you can do it if you have some basic automotive skills. Remember to disconnect the battery and be safe when doing it. Good Luck!

Thanks for the input guys. I'll get to doing it myself tomorrow and then I'll schedule an alignment for the upcoming week. Shouldn't be too bad driving a few days without. Will be putting on my duratracs at the same time.

I'll just keep the fact that I leveled it to myself and hopefully they'll just align it as per usual.

yep don't say anything and you'll be fine. If they have an excuse to tell you that you have to buy alignment bolts they will. Went to ford after I installed my AS 1.5 and the tech didn't even notice I had leveled it until I said something...after I had paid haha.

The AS came with directions and tools needed list. I forgot the socket and wrench sizes but you can turn the wheels and test fit all the sockets/wrenches before you start to ensure you won't get stuck...

2014s are different from 2013 back, just so you are aware.

Like white08gt said, the '14's are different than earlier models. Ford changed the way the lower strut mounts to the Lower Control Arm. Getting the strut out requires a bit more work. Here's a link to my install instructions. I added the 1.5" AS as well.

Read through all the steps before you start the install and you'll be fine. Have a friend available to help and it will go quicker.

Thanks for the heads up. My kit came with updated instructions for the 2014s so I figured I'd follow that for now? It's also up on the AS website.

I just installed my 1.5" as spring kit last saturday, what i did was unplug the electric power aid steering, i took my time and did it in 4 hours. alignment is a must. just follow singleshot67 video. i didn't take brake and rotors off but if you never worked on stuff like this i can see it will help making it easier. i unbolted rotor from axle and swiveled it to the back for more room.
