Front hub failure. Is this a common problem

What are the symptoms of a bad hub?
I get rubbing/grinding noises intermittently that are clearly from the front driver's side, or MAYBE the front center of the truck. Dealer passes it around their service department. Some "specialists" can hear things but others can't.
Brute448's post sounds exactly like what my truck is doing.
How can you have the dealer check for this? Ask them to check vacuum on the hubs?

Had this happen on my 2010. Proper troubleshooting will lead to the true culprit. Often the hub nor the solenoid are the problem. A small hole/cut in any one of the vacuum lines will lead to the exact same problem. I got a vacuum tester/brake bleeder kit for 50 bucks, troubleshot solenoid(un hook vacuum lines in 2wheel drive, if it's pulling vacuum it's good), then went to testing vacuum lines. Had a small cut in one line. Repaired it, trouble free for 8000 miles.

Def. a problem !! My passenger went at 3600 miles on my 13 SCREW ...It's made of plastic , aluminum and a rubber bladder. The plastic ring breaks off .the rubber vac. bladder can't pull it back . The part sucks !!!

I think my passenger side is on it's way out. Been making noise for about a month, but it's getting louder. The truck only has 6k miles and has already been in the shop several days for the transmission, now this! What next?

First I thought I had a bad actuator but it was still good. So I replaced that entire rubber vacuum line running from the actuator to the left hub over to the right hub. Problem solved.
