Default Front hub failure. Is this a common problem

My truck is currently in the shop because of a rubbing/grinding sound coming from the front end that they claim is bad hubs. I remember also dealing with this problem in my 2006 F-150. Is this a common issue among F-150 owners?

Let me know how the repair goes, Tanner2. If you need me to step in and assist, just send a PM my way with your details - I'll need your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership.

my dads is doing this and they say they've replaced the the actuator but it keeps coming back. I think they need to replace the whole hub assymbly and start over.

If the system looses vacuum you will get the grind. Maybe a vacuum line is leaking also? Or the selector switch is bad.

What are the symptoms of a bad hub?

I get rubbing/grinding noises intermittently that are clearly from the front driver's side, or MAYBE the front center of the truck. Dealer passes it around their service department. Some "specialists" can hear things but others can't.

Brute448's post sounds exactly like what my truck is doing.

How can you have the dealer check for this? Ask them to check vacuum on the hubs?

I had my passenger side of my 2012 replaced at around 20,000 miles.
