Default new 12th gen owner

Hows it goin guys. Just recently traded my 02 tenth gen in for a 2013 12th gen.

Its a white 2013 XL Supercab 5.0 4x4. Its got all the options minus power seats and carpet, and navigation. I must say it is an awesome truck and im stoked to have it. Ive never owned anything this new. And for my first vehicle on a loan I couldnt be happier.

A few things i was thinking about doin are just the basics. Leveling Kit, intake and exhaust, wheels and tires. Its got 17's and 265/70/17's Kenda Kevlar MT's on it(brand new dealer installed). But I am more than likely gonna get my old tires back from my old truck which are 285/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers.

Probably gonna run a Readylift leveling kit either 2" or 2.5". How high should I go in the back? 2"?

Whats the best aftermarket intake that wont break the bank? Ive always ran K&N.

Heres a pic of my old truck with 35's...

I know I'm in the minority here, but I love XL's. There's just something about a real basic truck that I like. I wish I'd gotten one instead of the XLT. I love the black grilles too. Anyways, nice truck!

Congrats on the new purchase! It's a huge change going from an 02 to 13. Came from an 03 to an 11 myself. I like that the XL's come with the vinyl floor standard. Wish the XLT's did. I prefer the XL/XLT's since I end up changing/adding things anyways. Intakes are touchy subject, but really don't do anything for performance. Putting that money into a custom tune will be more beneficial. As for the rear, are you wanting to keep it level or do you want some rake? I have 1.5" up front and added an AAL to the rear and at the same time removed the factory 1.25" block. Gave me a 1" rake. The AAL advertises around 1.5"-2" height increase. It gave me the full 2" which is why I removed the factory block.

can you post pics? im wanting it to just sit a lil higher im looking at 2" in the front and a 3" block in the rear, replacing that factory block. Just high enough to clear 285/70/17's with raptor rims.

Are you running a short AAL or a long AAL?

I've heard short AAL's make it ride rough and long AAL's make it a lil smoother.

I'm using the long AAL as like you said the shorter ones will ride rougher. It rides pretty close to stock, but is a bit firmer.

Any advice on control arms? Obviously icon and camburgs are the best. Along with readylift. But what about the tuff country UCA's? Are they any good?

Nice truck and congratulations man. I was originally going to trade my tenth gen but just couldn't bring myself to do it. Hopefully you don't miss yours as much as I would have mine.

Are you referring to the standard ball joint style uca that Tuff Country offers for leveled trucks? I have been looking into those myself. I would prefer those vs the uniball style since they are open to the elements.
