Front Differential Transfercase Play
2013 F150 4x4 3.5 (no 4auto)
Was driving through my jobsite and was pretty muddy so threw it in 4wd to go up a hill and when i gave it gas from the stop i heard a pretty good clunk and didn’t think much of it drove and parked it. When i put it in reverse and gave it gas it clunked again. On the drive back to the job trailer it cluncked from every stop so i babied it back. Got under the truck and i can turn the front drive shaft in both directions about 1.5” to 2” and figured thats not good. Question is would it be my diff going out or is the transfer case out? The truck was in 2wd when I turned the shaft by hand. As i have it understood the front differential is free until the 4wd is activated so leads me to believe that the tcase is whats sloppy. Any of you guys have experienced this?
