Front Axle
So I picked up a Detroit TrueTrac for my rear axle, and Im seriously contemplating getting one for the front as well. Randys Ring and Pinion states I have an 28 spline 8.8 reverse cut axle. Summit Racing has a TT for a good price, but list that the application only runs through 2010, I dont believe there were any changes after 2010, but I'd like to verify this before pulling the trigger on this purchase.
Thanks.
Thanks.

There are conflicting reports that the spline count increased in 2011
Some sources say the spline count increas was only on the Raptors.
Other sources say all F150s got larger axles for 2011.
When I was looking it up the axle part numbers are different for 2011 and up.
In short, I was not able to find a definitive answer. But I think we've got the larger 31-spline differentials. Best way to know would be to pull a CV axle. Think of it as practice for the install later. Be sur eto take pictures if you do this.

I went on the following website and put in a 2013 F150 front axle (they don't have the 2014 or 2015 in their system yet I guess), and it said 28 spline, 8.8" carrier, same part number as previous years.

It could be wrong though. I'd give them a call. They are very knowledgable

Like I said, various sites give conflicting information. Including the actual FORD parts database.

That's where I got my info as well. Strange there is conflicting info regarding spline count.

Hmm. I just called one of our local shops, Coast Driveline and called Randys Ring & Pinion. Neither can give me a 100% answer on the spline count.

From another thread Ive been reading
http://www.expeditionportal.com/foru...-Locker/page12
For what it's worth, a TrueTrac in the front isn't as good an idea as it sounds. I ran one in the front of a previous 4Runner and it caused horrible understeer on slick or loose surfaces. I wouldn't put anything but a selectable in front, myself.
My experience differs.
I did have a lunchbox locker in the front of my old Tacoma. That caused the opposite of understeer. It was like the truck wanted to go anywhere but straight, you could really feel the front end pulling whichever way the wheels were pointed.
That may be the difference between a Lunchbox locker and the True Trac though.

I had a truetrac in my Jeep's front axle for a few years before going ARB. Never had an issue with it. It tightened up the steering feel just a smidge, otherwise it was completely unnoticeable.
