There have been some here that have said that removing it decreased their mpg as it let more air under the truck where all the rough aero bits exist.

One of the first things I did. Made my truck look like it had buck teeth. Don't guess I had it long enough to notice an effect on the mpg.

The owners manual for my '12 says it can be removed for offroad use. Mine has been off for around 1 1/2-2 years now, and no ill effects for cooling or mileage as far as I could tell. Looks a lot better without it though.

There for minor gains in MPG and aerodynamics. Like said above by johnday, it says right in the manual to remove for offroad. So take it off!

Leave it on during spring and summer. Take it off during winter or rip it off during the first big snow.

Removed mine 15 mins after leaving the dealer. The truck now has 26K!

The air dam originally was installed to force air upwards to assist in cooling the radiator. As far as I know, that is still the main purpose of it. Never knew any other reason for the design of these things. Take it off in the winter or off roading, but I'd be putting it back for other than those reasons.

It's a front curb feeler.
