Coilovers 2014 FX4 FWD owners
Hi Guys,
Hello Paging all 2014 FX4 FWD owners~!
Do you have any experience with the new Fox 2.0 factory series coil-over IFP shocks? Part #-985-02-015. Can you please share your experience?
As you know finding a affordable adjustable shock for 2014 is not easy.
I've been researching and here's what I found.
Bilstein 5100, not available for 2014..yet.
Elderbrock, no longer in the game.
ICON, expensive. $$
Sway's Race Runner not available yet and will be $$$
Fox is available $429.00 x 2 for the front.
I was originally going to go with a 2" spacer from Truxxx.
This system costs $500 installed but now I'm thinking the better approach may be the new Fox 2.0 factory series coil-over IFP shocks. Part #-985-02-015.
Cost is approximately $429 x 2 and is 2-3 hours installed. Also $$
Here my logic:
If I'm going to spend $500 on a Truxx 2" spacer level kit to achieve a 2" front end lift and to accommodate new boots 275/65/R20 w/Cooper Zeon LTZ/ Fuel Octanes 20's I may just bite the bullet and invest in a superior front end or improvement over stock.Albeit at a cost of around $1178.00
I.e Fox Coil over are $429x2 plus 2-3 hours labour and alignment. = $1178 approx. give or take.
Again my thinking is at twice the price I'm investing into firmer/improved handling, less body roll and a shock that is adjustable. Improved over shocks over the stock and an upgraded front end.
Compared to $500 bills for Truxxx 2" of lift. Keeping in mind that this cost includes labour and alignment as well.
I should caveat my comments saying I'm completely new to this so I could be just blowing a bunch of hot air so please go easy on me as I'm hitting the ground running trying to learn from what worked best from my F150 2014 brethren's. Any advice or experience of what you've done on your 2014 would be greatly helpful.
Cheers guys and thank you~!

I am sure the coilover is far superior to the spacer, but for what its worth, I only paid 300 bucks for a 2.5" pro comp + alignment on a 2013. so the savings are huge going this route. Choice is yours, but as previously stated, the coil overs are superior to the spacer.
also, I noticed no difference in ride quality vs stock when i added the spacer.
definitely post some pics when you finish!

I think you are better off with the coilovers if you can afford them.

What is cost for the front Boss coilovers? How do they compare to Fox?

I would say only go with the leveling kit. I just put Fox coilovers with reservoir and total chaos uca and it really didn't do much. I haven't had it off road yet but will be doing a full write up after I do.

I've had the 2.0s on for about a week. Put a few hundred miles on them and they are for sure an upgrade from my spacer leveling kit. Much more controlled ride and handling.
The only thing I noticed was it would hit pretty hard on large potholes when I first got them, but that seems to be going away now with a few miles on them.

Thank you Alex for the talk today. FYI for forum Boss cost is $829.00 for fronts in Silver. To have them painted its $50.00 which is a good deal. Plus they have a special on for Installation. Contact Alex.
