Default 11' 5.0 tow review

preface: planed a riding trip to prospect to go riding over the weekend. took off from pdx at 330..to late hit traffic for a good hour and a half!! but after that smooth sailing to eugene then off to the forest!

i got a half tank of 92 oct in there with half 87 then at gas stops i threw in premium. I've never tow'd this set up w/ this truck but i was very happy w/ pulling power there and home. on the steep grades maybe 5% 4 gear at 2700 it would cruise right along while slightly accelerating.

On the return trip home tow haul was great going down the grades as it would hit 4th at 2700rpms then if not enough down to 3rd at 3200 rpms and that it speed down to 35ish. if i really needed to stop 2 at 4000 rpms would drop me to 25 mph. all in all i didnt really have to touch the brakes, just taps now and then.

I do love the power of the 5.0 w/3.73's going up and comp braking coming down! to me its like a 4 stroke comp. to a 2 stroke in dirt bikes at my cr250 free wheels alot were my buddies 450's really come down if u let off the gas.

*ps. when i had to make passes on slow forest hwys/ the freeway/ hills, it would drop to 3rd gear and just gooooooooooo, swiftly pulling us past the truckers/ slower moving vehicles! my total for the trip was 14.7 mpg, i'd have my trip meter but i reset this am at the gas station DOHH!

hope yall enjoyed my write up.

now a few photos:

What do you think the average or estimated weight you were pulling was? Thanks for posting this, as I am considering a camping trailer in the near future. I also have the 5.0. Thanks again friend.

zieman per there website is 860+ 700 in bikes+ 4x5 gal cans is 120 lbs gas + cooler ect = 1700ish total for trailer and its items w/ 300 lbs in the bed and 3 guys in the cab..i would think i could of done it all in drive but w/ tow haul the trans high point was only 208*.

but a travel trailer will tow wayy different this this trailer since it would sit much higher/ weigh more and have different when passing/ being passed on the road.
