bigbyrd, what spanner wrenches did you use or where did you pick them up? i got some pretty beefy ones from offroad engineering but they failed today.
spoke with bill at fox this morning. he said yes the truck must be lifted. ok figured that. and he said just start adjusting. well i started on pass side. got bottom ring to spin maybe 3 full turns up. now my spanner wrench, the tip of it that goes in holes on ring, is bent. it's shot. so i'm stuck, again. guess soft metal. went to a shop here, they said the uniball, maybe bottoming out, not allowing tire to fall completely, thus leaving to much tension on spring. fox told me to compress the spring some, well i would but no room. local shop i went to said to take each one off and adjust, get them off truck. that's a lot of work. but may come to it.
do either of yall have any measurements of what threads are showing above lock ring? may be faster to just take off, adjust to close to what yall are at, reinstall, and go from there for my particular truck.
this is killing me, was hoping to be playing with it already.
thanks for any help guys
took a measurement both sides. from top of lock ring to where the black block makes a 90 degree turn in.
passenger side i have measurement of 1.5"
driver side i have measurement 1.75"
be cool if yall could help me out with some off yalls.
thanks again

noooooo! sorry for the delayed response...Just like what evryone else has said. jack up the front, spray some wd40, loosen top nut then bottom nut. got my spanner wrenches from mckenzies off road in anaheim, ca. they were 6 bucks each and better made than the most expensive ones....
driver side--take off 5 full rotations
pass side---take off 6 full rotations

thx for replies guys. i got my spanner wrenches from offroad engineering in california. bent the large wrench rather bad. i will go try again, this time with some wd40 to do it with them on truck. trust me guys, truck is in air. i'm pretty savvy at being shade tree mechanic, but i'm literary putting all i have behind the cheater bar just to get the large ring to spin. they are truly that difficult. i was just to point to remove, set them both close to what yall are using with help of a press, then reinstalling, then fine tuning. but man, i just want to take it to the dirt.
will give it one last good faith effort, as soon as the replacement wrenches arrive.

finally got it done. thx for the input guys and help along the way. idk if the wd40 made the difference, but i did use it this go round. the pass side was actually so difficult to spin, cheater pipe creased a little. but got another, said f-it, and just went. if i broke something, that be between me and fox. got to a point, then it just started spinning with ease. had talked to a guy here, and he said he's seen this on fox, the hard chrome they put on he threaded body, adds just a few thousands of material, making it little more hard to get the bottom ring to spin. perhaps thats what problem, choked up with the finish, finally got to a point where it broke free completely. after that, it was so easy. adjusted both down. took truck off road a tad, thud noise is gone. truck rides so good off road, faster i went, smoother it got, sure suppose to be to a point. little dissappointed in the bilstein 5100's in back, but could be the ****ty factory spring packs back there that bottom to quickly.
weird thing is, on driver side, i have 10 threads showing, pass side has 3 threads showing. figured they'd end up little closer, but guess all the extra weight on driver side. but the front is level with each other, and the back is level. so guess it's good. i have a 1 1/2" add a leaf lift from tuff country, wanted to use it, but not now since had to lower the fox's. maybe just get a new pack from deaver.
taking to shop on friday to put gauges on reservoirs, check psi, and maybe adjust it some
again, thx for all the help on this and pushing me to stay away from removing them to adjust. it's done now.
thanks

N84gach!! Need question answered! Thx
N84gach- what size wheels and tires did you go with?
Hey crazyPD, that thud you are hearing is the front suspension running out of droop travel. I have the same set up as bigbyrd73. The fox coilovers are set with to much preload. I had to raise the preload nut 4-5 turns in order to regain the droop travel. Doing this does lower the front end a bit, but it allows the suspension to work much better. I also removed the front sway bar. I am very happy with it!
