Fox 2.0 Durability
 

Hi All,

I have 2014 Screw 4x4 with a bum front strut and need to find a replacement. It is the origial and made it 40,000 miles. This is my work truck, that spends most of its life running around on logging roads and active logging sites. I need a good, reliable off road shock that will put up with this type of driving and it needs to last.

The Fox 2.0's look promising and I like that it will give me a bit of lift in the front end (hopefully keep my truck grading roads). I'm curious if anyone has any long term experience with these.

We have to replace our trucks every 100,000 miles and I don't want replace shocks every 40,000 miles. I'm open to other suggestions as well. These are at the upper end of what I am willing to spend on a work truck.

Can't speak on longevity but I love the way mine ride. I think 100k of abuse is a lot to ask from a strut. I know the 2.5 fox that come on raptors recommend a rebuild around 50k. Just something to think about

Monotube shocks are very durable providing that the shell isn't dented. I've had Bilsteins last for 14 years. Being aluminum, the Fox shox should last quite a while.

I have the fox 2.0 rears.
As soon as I received them I read the servicing label and it states to service every 50k miles under normal driving conditions or 10k miles if used under rough driving conditions.

I haven't pulled the trigger on the coilovers due to this reason. I've looked into the boss coilovers and icons but I haven't found any info as far as servicing the shock.

The icons will have similar service intervals, I ran icon 2.5s on my f350. Not sure about the boss, believe they are made by eibach so you can research eibach to get a general idea. Like I said before, finding any shock to take heavy abuse for 100k is not going to be easy

Thanks guys. Not really looking for a shock to last the life of the truck, but it needs to do better than the factory ones. I have had lots of different trucks over my career. Some never needed new shocks others went through several. Didn't bother me at the time because some one else was responsible for fixing it. Now I am with a new company and i provide the truck and maintenance and I want reliability. I think i am going to go ahead and give these a try.
