Alaska must be one of the winter states. When I ordered my truck I asked about the block heater and the salesman said don't worry they all come with them! I don't know if this is a truck only thing.

I'm in Canada and have owned my truck for two years...this thread had me curious so I just went out in -19C to check and I've got a block heater as well. Thanks to all of you posting here for making my morning drive more comfortable!

I joke about living in Canada but our winters are pretty mild here in SW ontario. This week is the coldest it's been lately, it was -8 with a huge wind chill today. We normally have a week or two of a cold spell then it snaps and you can get away with a thick hoodie and a vest. It'll hover around zero (32 for you yanks) for most of the winter.

I live on the IA MN border and it gets down to -20s F a hand full of times a year. -5F is pretty common and I think it's about 50/50 on gas trucks with block heaters from what I noticed shopping. Thinking back, I'm not sure mine has it or not.

Good lord....I don't know how you guys can handle that temperature. Stuff barely works and you can't be outside for more than like 2 mins without wearing a full snowsuit. A really REALLY good job or a significant other would be the only 2 reasons I would even consider living in that type of climate. I wanna pack up and move to Florida every winter here in New England and it'll get to 0 degrees F a couple times.
