I think it can be done another way. I just added power fold to my 2013 XLT and I am looking into doing this. I'm getting ready to try this soon. I think I can make it work with a couple of relays and latching rig. I'll experiment with it and post up how it goes. It might be a bit before I'm done, with the Holidays fast approaching. But I will let you know how works out.

We've talked about it before (a few pages ago) but the power fold on our trucks is a "dumb" device kind of like our windows/moon roof/sliding window.

You would need a control board somehow (arduino, red, etc) that when you hit the lock button it told the mirrors to fold and vice versa for unlock. That would be easiest as that could be all internal to the doors since all of the wiring is right there for all of that. At that same time you could also use that board to do global open/close on the windows.

It would be fairly easy wiring/programming except for the part of having the board boot up, you wouldn't want that thing to be powered all the time.

A relay could potentially work if all that the mirrors need to fold is a quick power signal, then you could tap into the lock/unlock and send that quick signal to the mirror wires.

At this point I found it was just easier to program myself to pull the **** when I exit and pull it again when I enter the truck.

i thought about the the micro controller option as well but also didn't want the constant power draw of the board all of the time. Raspberry Pi boots the quickest I think but you really want it available any time you hit the button. I was working on a timed latching circuit to handle it. I opened and closed my mirrors many times and they always completed their travel in between 2.50 and 2.9 seconds. So if I can have a time latch control a relay for say 3 seconds and then unlatch it should work. I was going to play around with a PAC-audio TR7 module as they are really customizable. I have one laying around so I thought I'd try it.

If you figure this out for relatively cheap, I would definitely be interested!

Default Side Mirror auto fold

Maybe I'm not thinking about this clearly but for the above module to work, it says the mirror switch has to be on. You can only have left or right on at a time not both, correct? If that is the case does that not mean only 1 mirror will fold in with this?

"The side mirror switch must be ON to ensure the normal working of this system. If the side mirror is switched off, the system will be disabled."

My take on that is that some cars(European, Japanese, etc.) may have a switch to turn off the power fold function. The switch in our trucks is "in circuit" all of the time meaning it is always in line with the power fold motors.

I ordered this one.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/253263109050

The reason I ordered that one and not the one Feathermerchant referenced is purely personal. I refuse to order items on ebay that are shipped out of China directly. I know they all come from China at some point, but I've had a couple bad experiences with things shipped from China. At least with a seller with a US warehouse returns and such are much easier and quicker to resolve.
