Well I ordered a ScanTool 426101 OBDLink MX Bluetooth: Professional OBD-II Scan Tool for Android & Windows

I didn't have too much time to study what to buy. But my cheap ob2 bluetooth dongle I've had a few years wouldn't work on the forscan demo. So I ordered the one above.

I hope it was the best choice for the money. My gut feel is that I'd be better off with a mechanic's type tool or tuner. But I don't have time to study it all right now.

It might do what "i need" for now. but i'm sure I'll want more that the hardware/forscan combination won't do for me.

What is it that you are trying to do, and what year is your truck?

I found the info to disable the Battery Management System for the 2015+ trucks. Does anyone know if this works on the 11-14 or is it even possible on these models?

I found that a lot of the values in forscan for the 15+ work for my 13.

Would you care to elaborate. A short list might be helpful. Thanks

I only change values in the acm and apim. I didn't note the ones I kept. Look for this spreadsheet. FORScan 2015-2017 F150s. It's super helpful. It shows which lines are for what and which values change to get certain things.

I can verify this doesn't work on the 11-14s. Not sure what I changed so I'm going to change it back but the BMS is still active after changing the line as documented for the 2015+ trucks. Maybe someone will stumble across the info for our generation of trucks.
