U bet u will see these trucks not rusting to much unlike the steel panels. The whole truck isn't gonna be aluminum just the panels. The frame will be steel

Um, wasn't the EPA started by Republicans?

Sorry, thought the EPA developed CAFE. I guess they just measure for it. It was Congress that enacted CAFE in '75.

Yea funny stuff that is often wrong. Republicans are the party to free the slaves, oppose Jim Crow, and set up the epa! What a strange world we live in.

Did you not make your opinion assuming it was "ours" when you said we? I think you asked....

If Ford doesn't keep innovating there may not be a F150 in the future at all. Ford is smart and there is a reason they continue to be number one. I am looking forward to see what Ford does in the future since they have done so well in the past. If you do not need a 250 maybe you could look at other American brands; maybe they are more in line with your vision of a truck?

the cost would sky rocket. not only is aluminum more expensive but any parts or anything that have to be welded or what not would also cost more to create. building one would be much different than the current f150

You people bashing Ford for using aluminum make no sense... "Rolling beer can". You want more steel because that's what makes it a truck. The problem is you bashers have no idea about the mechanical properties of aluminum or steel. Just because it's going to have aluminum doesn't mean it's going to be any less of a truck. The crash test standards haven't changed so Ford will do what they have to in order to meet them. Besides vehicles are not safe based on the material they are made of alone... It's the design of the parts also (hmm... maybe that's why the roof of my truck has corrugations running the length of it). So please before you start talking about how terrible aluminum is and how Ford doesn't know what they are doing do your own research first.

Has nothing to do with safety! The panels are cosmetic to the sub structure. There are designed crumple zones and crash bars that make them safe.

Your thinking is wrong, step into 2013 where automotive advances have come a long way safety wise.

Not necessarily, welding is done primarily by machines and that is a program change and any welder worth his weight will be able to weld aluminum just as easily as steel.

There is not an astronomical difference between aluminum and steel but I'm sure costs will be absorbed somewhere.
