Ya...lets see how that goes!
This is an example of the whole brand loyalty thing that folks insist on staying true to.
Ford will build a car, it will be fast...I will not beat the GTR most probably because the GTR has about a decade head start on it. Ford will not build a car that beats the 911 turbo S so hence it cannot beat the GTR. But hey, don't let fear and commom sense stand in the way!

This IS a ford forum, and nothing wrong with being brand loyal. No different than being loyal to a sports team. I don't think any one is arguing the how impressive the GTR is, but to say that America can't build a car that turns, is asinine. Before the latest GTR offering both the viper and zr1 had better lap times than the GTR at the ring.
2015 Nissan GTR lap time placed 4th
Dodge Viper lap time placed 6th and Corvette ZR1 lap time placed 12th.
I don't want to turn this into a big pissing match about who has the greatest fastest car. The OP was comparing a big V8 to a V6 twin turbo so I had to chime in. I have always been a fan of the GTR ever since it beat the 911 turbo S times.
North American sports car culture is a lot different than European sports car culture which is different than Asian sports car culture.
I am a fan of the faster European highways which allow a person to actually experience what they pay for in a sports car.
The 2011 Chevy Camaro 7:41:.27 beat the time of a 2009 Lamborghini Murcielago 7:42.00
The Audi R8 someone mentioned...came in 54th.

You're welcome...and I wouldn't classify the GTR as a "supercar" The Corvette isn't in the same league as the GTR. I brought the GTR into this (as did others) because it is in my view, the only really affordable sports car that really kicks ***. And, seeings the subject was about twin turbo engines, the GTR has a 3.8 litre that pushes out some serious horsepower. As for price, the hellcat is around 70k, the corvette is similar (80k) I believe if not a little more and the GTR is in around 100k.

The GTR must be a better deal where you are. I'm in Alberta and the all wheel drive twin turbo big ***** model here goes out the door here for about $123k.
Maybe we're getting hosed on this side of the border lol.
My own toy, I'll stick with my Factory Five mk4 Cobra. I'm not quite finished the build yet but, but it's a hell of a lot of fun.
