[QUOTE="nullname"]Thanks to all of you guys, I will do some more research on a warranty. Boy, the finance guy was really pissed I didn't go for the $2400 warranty, then he dropped it down to $2050 and I still said no. Quite angry, going through the paperwork super fast, then he said good luck.

Haha. My finance guy was super friendly until I told him not to try to sell me anything. Then he rushed through the paperwork and practically pushed me out the door.

Why not buy the 3rd party warranty that pays you back if you dont use it? I've done this before and its works.

I waited till my truck was at 35k miles before I bought my extended warranty, I drive alot about 37k miles a year. My ford dealer (I am friends with the sales manager) stopped selling Fords ESP and they only offer one through Zurich it was 1900 and any shop will fix apparently with little to no fuss, i was told Ford makes the dealer rip apart the broken part and take pictures and send them in to get approval before they will cover work under the extended warranty...Just my experience, either way as long as u buy the extened warranty before your factory warranty runs out the cost will be the same.

Funny... experienced nearly the same thing, except that he told me he was required to tell me all about this EWP/ESP stuff... so I politely let him give his speech. Then I told him that I don't bet against my vehicles and purchase EWP/ESP. It was as if a switch was flipped... He was still outwardly friendly but I could tell he was no longer happy to be dealing with me and just wanted power through it as quickly as possible (which I was A-OK with). My wife didn't notice, but reading people's body language and their paraverbals are key requirements of my business...

Fact of the matter is, these EWP/ESP programs are money makers for the dealer and for the insurance provider... they wouldn't offer them if they weren't.

EWP/ESP programs are good for some people, but if you can somehow manage to squirrel away $3-5000 and leave it alone... you are much better off without them.

I purchased it, as did my wide with her car on my advise because both dealer said that they would refund the money if you did not use any of it, not $1. Anyone ever get a refund? I do know that you can cancel it at anytime and get that refund. So, it's a no brainer!!!!!!!!!

Please corerect me if I'm wrong.

Extended warranties are always a bad decision, the reaction of the sales rep when you turned it down should be one big red flag for you. These sales are pure profit just like paint protection, rust treatment, and scotch-guard from the dealership.

When you buy that warranty you are making a bet that the covered systems will fail within the warranty period at a cost >= the price you paid for the policy. ie. you are saying that you know MORE about the design lifetime/failure rate of those systems than Ford Motor Company itself. Does this sound like a wise bet to you?

I bought the Ford ESP seven year warranty for my new F150 last year. Would not ever do it again.
