You can purchase a legit version from Rotunda, which is run by FOMOCO.
Thanks. I've been trying to find a source that might have preowned units. $1499 for just the VCM II module is steep.

I bought a clone off amazon a few years ago when I first bought my truck and needed to program a key, update my pcm software, and recalibrate for the closest tire size ford software allowed... I used the free period ford gives when you first download the software to do everything I needed and even update a couple friends pcm's and it's been sitting in a box ever since.

It worked great for me, saved me money at the time, and I have it if I ever need it. But like rnlcomp said, it's a gamble, you could get one that's dead on arrival...

You can buy legit ones on eBay. But, from what I have been told, there can be issues registering the serial # and getting software, that said, in a shop environment, I use this thing 2-3 times a week, and I offer anyone who is local my help with programming features.

Thanks for all the replies. A buddy of mine has his own shop and has been doing quite a bit of work on Ford trucks lately. He is looking to buy a VCM 2 tool and I stumbled upon the clones. He has decided to buy an authentic VCM after reading all the horror stories online.

I bought one of the knock offs a few months back, never got it to work and it cost me 75 bucks to return it to China!

I see them on buyobdii.com all the time for around 100 to 110. Have considered purchasing this and was wondering is anyone has on here. I know it's bootleg and my one and only worry is virus in the software. Anyone got thoughts?

I bought one from ebay it was saposta but full chips and duel boards and it was a scam it doesn’t work. I would love to find a trusted good used one that works

Welcome to the forum, this post was from 2014, most likely a non issue anymore for the OP.
