No way to avoid that yearly license, it's how Ford makes even more money and they sure as hell ain't giving up that cash cow. I was saying I wouldn't want to trust the Chinese vcm because after spending that 250 you still might have to buy a Bosch for something that actually works right.

RnlComp what's your opinion on the scan tool/software from AutoEnginuity? I've read good things about it, but have never used it. I also have worked for ford for a couple years and do not like when other people have to work on my vehicles.

The way I look at it, is it's an accessory, people spend unbelievable amounts of $$ on lift kits, rims, tires, electronics, etc... plus I can make a little $$ on the side programming things for others that don't want to spend that much $$ on a tool that will allow you to fix every single electronic system in that 30-50 thousand vehicle.
I'm not downing your decision to pay for the licensing, either. I think it's awesome.

I have the Rotunda VCM II direct from Ford and it works really well. Yes the $700/year sucks but the things it will do is pretty cool. I've used it to diagnose half a dozen electrical issues on my truck and several other Fords we have.

Have you noticed how hot the Bluetooth adapter gets? I was doing some programming the other day and when I pulled it out of my lap top .
It wasn't so hot it burned but would warm your leg if you dropped it in a pants pocket. No issue with performance other than that.
