Default FORD SERVICE Department RANT

Ok so I've noticed 2 wet spots on the rear diff. Stopped by the local dealer FORD DAM'S LANGLEY, was told they could not say what constitutes a leak, but if I'm willing to fork over 157$ they would be glad to pull my truck in and take a look.

It was parked out front.

157$ to look at something that should be covered under warranty...
I am aware there needs to be an actually leak. Maybe if I didn't feel ripped off I'd use the service department more often again

I get it they need to make money. But come on really?

Here's the 2 wet spots.

At this point I'd rather reseal it myself. At least I'd know it's done right.
Oh, and shame ford, rusty rear axle cover already? My GM truck was better than this at 72,000kms

Should I make them do it? Or does it need to be actually dripping please chime in Ford techs!

Frustrating as it is thats not a leak. Its a weep. If it gets worse or bothers you enough, change it yourself. Its easy and just not worth the hassle.

For the cost of the fluid and a good reusable gasket you can do it yourself for a hell of a lot cheaper.

I know. Plus I'll know it's done right. Just bugs me the way the advertise warranties for vehicles like it's all good whenever you got a problem. Couldn't be further from the truth.

I went in telling them "this is the TSB I need done..." and they still charged me $137 to look and say "you do need that TSB done."

Paint that cover while it's off too.

Check these out. Used them on my Jeep and they worked great.

+1 on the lubelocker

as for Ford, warranties, and service - my recent experience with my IWE's proved flat out fraud by the local dealership (said they did work they didn't do, but as it was 'warranty' FMC is the victim i'm out time / no money). I reported it to FMC, no reply from them so far

and a couple years ago my truck was parked at the dealer longer than necessary...why? because only the ford certified "mechanic" is allowed to do warranty work and he was out for a week training. Had my truck not been under warranty, it'd be fixed in a day or two. so warranty = worse for me (other than the money - but time is > money)

I like fords, I really do, but I also hate rewarding crappy customer service - might even get a chevy next time!

I went back to the same dealership to buy my truck as i had bought my 2nd hand explorer from them, I felt like i got a good deal and thats the main thing, problem is their service dept is complete sh&8 IMO.
I have the timing chain issue, i presented the dealership with a video and even left it over night for them to hear for themselves, they did not confirm it was the timing chain and they said that they could not complete any warranty work until an engine fault light came on, even told them about a TSB I had found, they had no knowledge of it.

Went to another dealer, only showed them the video, yep timing chain give us a call we will get the parts and you can bring it in under warranty.

It is disgraceful how Ford are represented by some dealers.

My '09 King Ranch with 210,000km looked better underneath than your '14.

And GM trucks rust more quicker than Fords. Some '14 Denali HDs in Alberta were all rusted out already.

Well my last GM was an 07. Maybe they stopped building quality too.
