ianinedm,
We always encourage owners to visit their dealer for repairs and maintenance because Ford-certified technicians are trained to work on these vehicles. If you're more of a DIY kind of person, check here for a way to get access to technical resources for your vehicle.
Hope that helps! Reach out if you have other questions.

Jaclyn - have you all noticed if certain Ipods work better with sync than others or is it an ipod thing in total? Ive got a 60gig video with around 20gigs of music on it and I leave it plugged in all the time, I dont think Ive ever made it more than 30 days before Sync goes nuts (says voice commands arent available etc...only fix to make sync work is to pull the fuse or do a master reset and then it still wont work with my ipod until I wipe it and load everything again)
I have a thumb drive that works flawlessly but updating that sucks compared to just syncing my ipod

When the system stops recognizing commands, have you tried soft resetting your iPod? If not, I recommend it:

Jaclyn,
Can you please pass along to the SYNC programmers that many owners of the previous versions of SYNC for the F150 would like updates for our systems. I have a 2011 V3.2.2, and would like my iPhone to work properly (text msgs) with SYNC. We shouldn't have to purchase a new vehicle for systems to work with current hardware.

If your mom truck doesn't have MyFord Touch, it did not come with a 3-year subscription to SYNC Services, but she can still utilize the SYNC system for hands-free calls, and playing music.
A SYNC Services subscription is available for $60 a year:

The way I read this from the website it looks like it's suppose to come with basic sync. Looks like if you have MyFord touch you have to buy it. She doesn't have MyFord touch yet is missing the free service.

SYNC Services is complimentary for three years on most 2013 and 2014 Ford vehicles. Vehicles built with SYNC with MyFord® will require a subscription fee from the onset of service

yes, Ive done the soft reset and everything else in the world. Ive run the sync my itunes or whatever software it is and it fixed every problem it found. When that was done I master reset sync and wiped my ipod and installed all the corrected files, 3 weeks later its the same old crap and I havent bothered to try it again since

The naming is vary similar; if your mom doesn't have MyFord Touch, she has MyFord (which does not include SYNC Services).
This link offers a good breakdown of each system:
