Issue: Ford Remote Access app review

The Ford Remote Access app is available for both IPhone and Android users to control vehicle features. The app lets you remote start, remote stop, lock, unlock, audible car find, and there is even an optional feature to receive security notifications.

Read to find out more:
  • What, if any, are the costs associated?
  • Do you have to go to the dealer?
  • What hardware is compatible?
  • How well does it work compared with aftermarket devices?
  • What models are compatible?

So when you think about it that isn't that bad of a deal getting a second remote start and the cellular unit. Does it come with a fob or is that where I read you had to order that separate if you wanted one? So in my case I have two remote keys that would probably still work since this piggy backs to it...
The antennas for 100 series and 200 series are the same. If you have the 100 series already then you simply will be using that for the new kit which has the 200 series.
It doesn't come with a FOB as the remote app on your phone is the new fob. Your original fob you are using today will still work on the series 100 unit thats installed in your truck.
So essential you are only adding the RMU, series 200 RMST and Y-adapter (to tie in the series 100 & 200 together with single plug) The iphone for your remote access and your key fob for close proximity usage. You don't need another fob outside of your factory one in your pocket as we speak. Because you are not removing the series 100 unit from the vehicle, it stays in tact and you are adding remote access, not taking anything away.

You're the first person that was in a similar situation to confirm what you did and that it worked as advertised so for that I thank you. Everything else has been a contradiction in one way or another that doesn't help inspire any sort of confidence.

I still feel that it's a little ridiculous that the factory remote start in a 2013 (100 series) isn't compatible with the RMU and that you have to purchase a kit that includes a secondary RMST to work. Makes zero sense. However, since it's truly plug-n-play I'm feeling that ~$400 and a phone call to get it working is definitely worth it.

Again thanks for reporting on your experience!

Thanks Plethora!
Trust me, if I had to rely strictly on what I had read up until I posted I would have been too nervous to purchase and try. Only because I talked to the dealer on Ebay (All Star Automotive) where he confirmed for me what I needed is the reason I went ahead and purchased it.

If another forum member, in an effort to help, gives my bad info and I purchase based on that then I have no way to return it. At least with the cat on Ebay if it doesn't work and do what he says it will he will be getting an early Christmas present...my return. At least there is some recourse by going the route I did.

Glad the info is starting to funnel down to a more streamlined path.
If I had to start reading this thread from the beginning to find out what part number I need and what does and doesn't work I would have probably shot myself by now.

To add onto this, if you went with the 200 series only (no remote access) you will get one additional fob and a long range antenna that goes on your window, everything else is the same. If you go with the remote access, you don't need the fob or additional long range antenna, your phone does that part.

Where are the 100 series starter located and how hard are they to remove? I'm getting an aftermarket one next week and thought I could pull this worthless 100 series and sell it to some sucker down south who doesn't need more than 100ft range 1 way remote starter, lol! Thanks

It's behind the glove box. If you open the glove box then pinch the sides and let it open all the way so you can get behind it and see under the dash you should see a little box it's probably about an inch wide and 6 inches long with one cable coming from it. It would take about a minute to take out. I don't know if you'd be able to sell it because the person would still need the keys with the remote start button.

Default DL3Z-19G364-A Kit picture from All Star Automotive

Thought maybe this would help my more visual friends.
When you buy the "kit" which is DL3Z-19G364-A .....it includes everything you see in the picture.

RMU- Cellular module for remote access
RMST-Series 200 with shock sensor..to adapt the RMU module.
Y-Harness to connect the RMU, RMST 200 & your existing RMST 100 unit together
Zip ties....for your wife when she is talking too much smack
SIM ID card with SIM ID # and 4 digit space where dealer or Zachary programs and provides the 4 digit number to you to subscribe and start using remote access service.

Make sense?

Cool, thanks for information! Could I give them my keys and have them recut or change out the button part? or would they need blanks? I hate the key with buttons, far too Bulky to carry around. I'm getting a couple plain keys with no buttons cut before I get my aftermarket starter installed because they need 2 keys to do it and I'm throwing the bulky button keys away cause they suck and the range is far too short to be useful to me.
