The Ford Remote Access app is available for both IPhone and Android users to control vehicle features. The app lets you remote start, remote stop, lock, unlock, audible car find, and there is even an optional feature to receive security notifications.

Read to find out more:
  • What, if any, are the costs associated?
  • Do you have to go to the dealer?
  • What hardware is compatible?
  • How well does it work compared with aftermarket devices?
  • What models are compatible?

If there were network or cellular problems for this device there would be other widespread complaints of issues with cell phones in general. It's hard for me to buy their "network" trouble as I think some of you have described it. Also - just a note - are all of you that are having trouble in the North? I looked at the location under your name, seems maybe everyone having trouble is somewhere up North, although I didn't look back beyond the current page.

I'm in Dallas and having the issue. They have been using my truck some as a test mule sending it commands and tracing the ping.
I've had it for 3 years and up until Dec-Jan it has worked 99% of the time with very occasionally having to send the command twice, hence the 1% it fails.

Its definitely a "network" thing as they have stated multiple times in their emails to me. I dont think they are saying its an AT&T network issue but its the system integration with Spindance... I too have AT&T as my cell and have no issues but I also know phone subscribers get first choice bandwidth spectrum. 3rd party services that use their cell network do NOT get priority over a paid phone/data subscriber.
I'm sure they will get it figured out and we can all go back to our historically good reliability...

Also, funky systems like this will often have poor recovery ability. I'm not a programmer, but I'd guess that timeouts and error correction are not implemented well. If it could run like an att phone on the network, maybe it would be fine. But att gets first access, straight talk tracfone and other MVNOs get secondary, I'm guessing all the car access stuff comes in below that for priority. And most of these weird little systems seem to be on att's network. If it doesn't get thru perfectly and quickly, we get error messages.

This might be a shot in the dark, but does anyone have project fi as a cellular provider? I added my number under the alerts section, but project fi isnt listed. I've a few different providers, but dont seem to get any text messages when the alarm is tripped.

I just bought it. Whether you're looking at aftermarket (Like Viper) or this Ford one the cost';; be the same $900 Give or take with installation. You need two modules. The subscription fee is cheaper (about half price) than going with the 3rd party. If you look on the Ford site there's a video that shows you can set times up for it to automatically start...not true it's only with the Lincoln that you can do this.<----Again FORD if you're listening this should be available to ALL FORD USERS, it's just software. It works really well. I bought it because I have to park about 5 blocks away and in winter I don't feel like taking a 15 min walk to freeze, start my truck wait another 15 mins and then walk back...Freeze for 45 mins No thanks. Got this, start it from my desk in my office. You need these two parts: DL3Z-19a90 and FT4Z10A-361C(if in Canada A if your in the USA).

Yeah, that cost is way off. And the part numbers are not correct for a 2009 - 2014. More like $300 and use FORScan or have the dealer turn it on for $75 - $125. No where near $900. And installation is wire ties and plugs.

DL3Z 19A361A VSS
DL3Z 19A390B Cellular remote start
DM5Z 19D596A LED

Well you do have to turn the ignition key from on to off 8 times to program the VSS to the truck! That's at least two hours of labor right there!

This may be where you live but up here in Alberta this is what I'd costs for a 2016 I got 3 dealer quotes. Yes we're getting ripped off.

Big difference between US and Canadian prices for everything. Best to clarify when you post prices if they are Canadian, otherwise people assume they are US.

Any updates from those who were having troubles?
Mine has been working without fail for about 2 weeks now.

They even emailed me to follow-up and check on things (Spindance).
Hoping they got the network bug figured out and all of you also have been having success using it...
