Ford Remote Access app for smart phones

Where did you find a link to download the manual, can you post it?
Also, the price really isn't that bad. If you go to a normal car audio retailer like Best Buy you'll pay the same if not more for a Viper remote start with Smart Start (alarm + install).
And the annual service fee is about the same as the Ford version too.

FX4 Turbo Owner
Here is a screen shot of the app and how it works:
Remote Starting the Vehicle
Select the icons on the desk top screen to operate the Remote
Access features for your vehicle.
1. Press the Start icon.
2. The Start icon will fl ash BLUE indicating communication with the vehicle.
3. Once the vehicle has received and completed the command, the Start icon will fl ash GREEN, indicating that the vehicle has remote started.
4. After the vehicle has started, the countdown timer will flash GREEN and then turn GRAY and stay GRAY for the remainder of the remote start cycle.
5. If you wish to cancel the remote start, press the Stop icon.
Note: The number of remote starts and duration is limited by the vehicle. See the vehicle owner guide for details.
And yes it's a subscription service at least $50 year. As others have mentioned it's quite expensive, but that may be the entire kit. If you have Remote Start already it "should" be less expensive.
The brochure at the Ford Dealers say it's a quick and easy install.
I downloaded the manual, but it's too big to post her.

This is the key. What most posters do not like is the cost if it's $600+ when they already have auto start. My understanding it was a module you plug in (plug and play). So I think $600 even $400 is too much for this.
Now if you didn't already have auto start then okay. It will be interesting to see what the final install cost is. We know the yearly fee will be $49.99 though.
It's not scheduled to be out until Mid April according to the "Jerk" Larry who I talked to at 1-800-578-4677 I called to ask about it and I couldn't have gotten a more rude person. I hope their customer service is better than this buy.

This is the CARLINK system by AudioVox. Which is a comptetitor of Viper's smartstart. I know this because it's operated by Spindance, and they are the developers and operators of Carlink.
Carlink has long advertised their devices as being compatible with most OEM remote starters (there is a relatively standardized connector on these boxes). It's basically a cellular data connection on top of your existing remote start. That's where most of your subscription fee goes (cell service). (I have an aftermarket viper in my Mustang and that costs 70/year.)
The Ford app looks similar to Carlink. All they did here was wrap it into Ford branding (and Lincoln, separately).
I am not sure but I believe Chevy is also sourcing their system from Audiovox/Spindance.

From what I can find it's going to cost some $$ to get this EVEN IF you have a remote start already.
I see them from $199.99 to $299.99 then there is a $60 activation fee, installation fee ranging from $150 to $250, then the yearly $50 service fee...these are just estimates, but if my research is on, then the final price for us F-150 owners could be between $459.99 - $659.99 to get it working on your vehicle.
I hope I'm wrong, but unless Ford gives you a big discount on this looking at what others paid for their CARLINK system it will be close.
