Ford "Quick Lane" vs service department

Drain oil, drink a beer, refill and you're done. If you think the master ase tech is changing your oil you are wrong. The 19 year old parts monkey making $9 hour that does it doesn't give a crap about you or your truck either...

personally, I watch the techs do oil changes, and on the EB with the filter being in tight spot and drain pans these knuckleheads pull the filter off quickly and the oil goes everywhere if you do it that way. They never truly let the oil fully drain and plug it up and add oil. Your truck comes back and you smell oil for a few weeks as it is all over your driveway. I took my wifes Subaru in for first service. It was in first bay. I watched the guy let it totally drain, took his time. The easiest filter to get to its on top of the engine bay. Smart idea. Then when there done they wash the car. That's service. I have spent thousands in my Ford dealer and they never once ever washed my truck. Subaru goes above and beyond to make you a happy and loyal customer. This is the difference between a company that wants your loyalty and satifisfaction and a company that takes there buyers for granted. My advice is change your own oil, like I do. Give yourself the peace of mind it was done thoroughly and cleanly. JMHO!!
Took my wife's car in for the heads on her 2.5 Outback. Got the car back and was told that it'd be fine to drive 1500 miles for vacation. 5 hours into the trip the car started over heating. Had it towed to the nearest dealer which was 25 miles back the direction we went. Left us stranded for a night. Friends drove 8 hours to pick us up. Dealership had it for 11 days and replaced the thermostat; I also made them change the water pump that the original dealer should have but didn't change when the heads were done. We went to pick it back up on the last day of vacation and we were again assured the car was fine. We drove 3 miles from the dealership and the car over heated again. Brought it back and was told they didn't know what the problem was. I asked their idiot mechanic if he bothered to check the radiator. He said...'Nope.' I made him get the laser thermometer and check it, one side was hot, other side was cold. I began screaming at him that it should throw a flag. He swore up and down it wasn't the radiator causing the over heating issue. In the end they replaced the radiator but it took me screaming at them. They had my car for 14 days then they refused to give me a loaner car if I was going to leave the state. They told me that I'd have to stay in a hotel until the car was fixed and they weren't going to comp me for it. After 2 hours of yelling they finally relented and gave me a loaner but insisted that I remained in the state until the car was fixed. I wasn't having it as my vacation was over and I needed to return to work.
They finally let me take their loaner the 500 miles back to my home while they repaired the car properly. But that wasn't the end of the BS. As soon as I got in their loaner car I discovered none of the accessory outlets worked; there was a blown fuse. They fixed that issue and as soon as I went down the street the check engine light and air baglight came on. I again lost it. I immediately called the dealer and informed them that the CEL and airbag light was on in their loaner car and that I was not turning around; if the car broke down on the way home they'd be coming to get me. Ever since that incident I've not taken my wife's car back to a Subaru dealer; it's gone to my friend's shop and I've never had a problem with it.

I haven't had my truck in for service yet, still got 2500 miles before that. But I've had quite the opposite experience with Subaru.

Because I mentioned my wife's oil change at Subaru. Tallest, keep in mind we where talking oil change, not major repairs. Subaru changed her oil and washed her car before letting us leave. Nice touch. Sorry you had a bad experience with your wifes car.
