Default Ford OEM Anti Theft Flasher

Newb with his first question here!

Does anyone know or have had the OEM Anti Theft Flasher (p/n DM5Z-19D596-A) enabled or installed on their truck?

I understand that first you must have the Ford Vehicle Security System (VSS) to be able to have the alarm flasher. I have called three local Ford dealers and none of them have any knowledge on this! They checked my VIN and indeed I have the VSS on my 2013 F-150 XLT.

What puzzles everyone is that the MSRP is $15.00 Installed!

...and there is nothing in this world for any automotive application that would cost only $15.00 installed!

One service tech believes it is only a "jumper" that is connected to the VSS PATS and it will enable the "flasher" in the Automatic Light Sensor on top of the dash.

Anyone know???

Thanks,
Steve

I have one installed in my truck,it's a red led with about 2ft of wire and a connector that plugs into the VSS.

I drilled a 9/32 hole about 2 inches from the automatic light sensor , to dark outside for pics. Will take on in the morning and post it .

easy way is to find a flashing led (the flash is built right into them... some can flash red/blue or on/off)... hook the negative wire to the ignition power and the positive to the battery power. when the ignition is off it will flash... about a $2 mod or buy from ebay...

Thanks for the responses!

Anyone can offer any more details as to where the VSS is located? How to get to it? Pictures would be great too!

Maybe a Ford Service Tech can chime in on this?

One of my local Ford parts & service center said it is listed as $15.00 installed. At that price I may not want to tear down my dash myself and leave it to the experts.

I'm just curious what this is supposed to accomplish?

Do you think people won't break in because they see a flashing light?

Yes, it has been known that flashing lights stop criminals dead in their tracks!

Yup, lots of stupid people! Besides its a warning that when the alarm sounds off, it will attract attention. If I get a witness, I'll have something for the police report (or ???)! The Ford VSS will sound off on impact as well as break ins.

The bottom line... Definitely worth it for me.
