Default Ford Headlight Engineering......What a Royal PITA!!!!!!

So I purchased a couple replacement 4300K Recon headlight bulbs as an interim fix until better headlights can be afforded. They arrived today so I just had too install them knowing I was taking a night drive.

I've never seen so much work just to change headlight bulbs. I always thought my '99 F150 was tough; at least on the driver's side. This 2011 F150 FX4 is a royal PITA. Couldn't find any other way to change the bulbs than to completely yank out the headlight unit. 3 bolts and one rubber shroud screw each side. A 5 minute job was expected and it took nearly an hour by the time I figured out the correct tools and how to actually make the change out.

The light quality is definitely better but I'll still be looking forward to some good HIDs or preferably projectors.

Why do the Ford engineers not take into consideration something so simple as a headlight bulb change and then just jamb all this gear equipment and batter up against the back of the headlights??? There's more than enough spare room in the engine compartment...

How on earth do you think taking out 3 bolts is hard work? I can have my headlights out in 2 minutes..

Ever seen how the new body 07+ Chev/GMCs get their headlights out? Drop the bumper.

The fords also have the most room behind for mounting ballasts and yea they come out super easy.

Had a 07 NBS Chevy. Don't have to remove the lights to change bulbs, which was the OPs problem
