Default Ford F150 3.7L V6 VS Echoboost Help!

Hi everyone... I have a question and hope someone could help. Kind of too late now but I just purchased a 2013 Ford XLT F150 3.7L V6. Prior to the purchase the sales person spoke several times of the Ecoboost and I was thinking that I was purchasing the Ecoboost engine. However it has now come to my attention that it isn't. Well.. What are the down sides of not having the Ecoboost? I won't be towing much. Sometimes I might tow up to 2 tons from time to time nothing major. But I have heard some have had issues with the Ecoboost. So I am not sure if I should be thanking my lucky stars or did I just make a $39,000 mistake?

Thanks,
Bravo2Zero

You should be fine for your needs. But please my friend tell me you didn't just pay 39 grand for an XLT with the 3.7 in it. Enjoy your new truck.

I actually paid $34,000 but had extras such leather which was additional. I live in the south too where trucks are higher down here.

But I am feeling guilty for not checking things out better. I just hope that it will tow a 1 ton tractor and trailer. I sure like the inside of the truck and the space. It has navigation with Sirius.

But I kept hearing the salesman talk to me about Ecoboost and assumed it had.

thought most dealerships would allow you within the first few days to return and get a different vehicle, especially in this case where you were mislead by the salesman.

I will check with the dealer tomorrow. I certainly thought I was purchasing a Ecoboost. But to be honest from what I have been researching I am not certain it would have been a great decision. I have heard that there are problems with the Ecoboost. I don't know. What are the opinions of you all?

I like my V8. Something about turbos and all that fancy crap doesnt sound right to me, honestly. Hell im 19 i should be all about that crap but taking a tiny engine and forcing it to put out more power than an engine significantly larger..?? Doesnt seem safe to me. Its all fun and games until your engine blows up after 75,000 miles.
Personally, i like my 5.0 V8. ALL engines have their + and -'s and quite honestly its too early to tell how these new motors will do long term, but id bet on the 5.0 V8 over a tricked out v6 anyday. Just my thoughts.

Yes, there are a few with problem ecoboost engines, also some with problem 5.0 engines. I rarely hear of 3.7 or 6.2 problems. Why? Probably because there are fewer of those on the road.

The 3.7 will serve you well including occasional light towing. Unless you are challenging others at stop lights you're golden.

That said, my ecoboost engine will have to be pried from my cold dead hands

Larger displacement does not mean it has more power. There's a bit more engineering than that.

I have the 3.7L and it towed a 5500lb camper and some gear across Wisconsin last summer just fine, you should be good broski. I would still go bitch out the dealer. Also your price does seem a bit high like was mentioned.

The 3.7L is a great little peppy engine though.
