Ford F-150 Ecoboost problems limp mode and many other issues
http://www.f150forum.com/f38/ford-f-...issues-157704/
ISSUE
Around the 20,000 mile mark, Ford F-150 EcoBoost is having the following problems:
• Engine mis-firing while idle
• Returns to idle when accelerating to merge onto freeway
• Reverse camera issues
• Random check engine light
Potential Cause
• Blown Engine
o To diagnose a potential blown engine, Summertop511 suggests using a compression checker to check cylinder compression. All cylinders should be within 15 psi of eachother, otherwise there is a blown engine possibility.

Bought a 2003 Ford Exp EB. Had numerous issues. 4 rear-ends put in.
45 days in shop the first 18 months.
The FDSB gave me a FULL refund and took back the Expedition. ALLLLLL my money back! Took me 8 years to buy another Ford, but I did.
They let you plead your case in person or on phone and give you a settlement of sorts based on their findings. You might have a good lemon case here.
BOTTOM LINE:
- Contact the Ford Dispute Settlement Board (FDSB)
- If in shop, I think 30 days or more the first 18 months = LEMON
- Fix same issue 3 tries, they get 1 more shot. No fixy = LEMON
- If problem could cause injury or harm - must fix, no fixy = LEMON
You might fall under some or all of these. Plead your case.

How many days has Ford had your truck? (Just curious).
I'm really surprised your dealer isn't more accomodating. Seems they'd want the good will more than the trouble of working over and over on the same vehicle.

I'm not sure if you have tried this yet as I skipped towards the end of this thread.
Try changing the spark plugs. The nature of direct injection gasoline engines is they have a tendency to run rich. This can cause premature spark plug failure. This is consistent with your misfire codes.
This is a common issue on the mazdaspeed platform of vehicles which have used DISI (direct-injection, spark-ignition) since 2007.
Give it a shot, its a cheap fix and might solve your problem. Get some quality plugs though.

i Dont own one. i have a couple of friend that do. its sounds like its electrical problems. the limp mode might be caused by the senser from you gas pedal communicating with the throttle body. if they are off it will make the truck go to limp mode. my instructor at my college where im going for automotive had that happen with a chevy Colorado. it is suppose to be a safety feature but it can get you in trouble. i still think that the motor is a great motor but its stuff that is electrical that is messing with your truck not mechanical

F150 Problems
Hey Kelly,
Sorry to hear what is happening to your truck. This is my story, not as exciting though.
I purchased a new F150 EB back in February 2012. Just like you the truck I test drove was great and my truck worked great too. Then at about 15000km (9300miles) it started to stutter. I noticed out of my passenger mirror black smoke (not like a diesel but black enough) coming out of the exhaust. When I went to merge or pin it on the highway it seemed to lag and there would be a trail of smoke that I could see. Even in town while stopped at a light I could feel the shake of the truck in the steering wheel. This happened just a few days before we left to go on on a short holiday. While we were driving up it seemed to be not running on all cylinders (no pun intended. My brother figured it was burning extra fuel). Then late at night when my wife and I were switching drivers, I jumped in the drivers seat and started to pull away and the truck stalled on me. I couldn't believe it. When we got to the cabin I took the truck to the Ford dealership and the service manager came to take a look at it. He could see the truck shake while idling and asked me to step on the gas while he put his hand over the exhaust. He agreed that there was a drive-ability issue couldn't look at it till at least the next day. I never took it back cause fishing with my boys was a little more important to me than the truck. Once I got back to town I booked it in and a week later they had a look at it. The dealership said that there was nothing that they could do and that it was "normal running operations" for the truck. The problem was I had no engine light come on or anything. The thing is it started to seem to run smooth again just before I took it in (it always happens). Since then I now have 21000km (13000 m) and everything seems normal. Fuel mileage continues to improve slowly and the only thing is that the driver side speaker is blown.
I really hope that it gets worked out and that you will be able to enjoy some time with the new baby in your house and spend time on what really matters. Cheers.

I have a 1995 Ford f150. Best vehicle I have ever owned and it has 300k on it. I was checking on ecoboost. One person said it had to be compression, spark or gas. Valves can stick, computers can cause problems and so can emissions equipment.
I would get an independant mechanic to verify the problems. That's called an expert witness. Ford will pay for that too. Then I would write a really nice letter explaining what I had done factually. I would drop the vehicle off at ford and rent a loaner. Ford will need to pay for that...too. If ford refused I would then file in superior court (California appropriate). I would ask for a jury trial and play the tape of the factory rep. It takes a lot of time, but it works. I would first explain the steps I intended to take to ford and I suspect you will get taken care of before court action in necessary. I have been to Court, gotten attorny's sanctioned and prevailed. Remember this: What do you call a lousy attorney? Your Honor! Let me know if you need help skinner_rick@hotmail.com
