I'm still enjoying my first F150, after 4000 miles. The new smell is gone, but it's still great to be in an F150. I've had new trucks and cars, but this is different, definitely the best vehicle I have ever owned. Got mine off the lot, just an XL, but it outclasses most other non-Ford pickup trucks, and it's made here in the USA, and I just found out my 3.7 motor was made in my hometown of Cleveland.

As was my custom bicycle, made in Cleveland.(1953)

I never order my vehicle. I go to http://www.ford.com/dealerships/

You can actually check out the inventory and what vehicles are on dealer order from any dealer in your area, your state or anywhere in the country.

I began searching around the first of November for a 2012. I searched nearly every dealer in Ohio, and found four vehicles that were on dealer order and had everything I wanted on them. You can actually look at the window sticker.

I visited the dealers one day, one was willing to deal and lo and behold, the next day the vehicle arrived. I got a good price and had the first 2012 F-150 in Ohio on November 18th.

Im sure if you didnt mind a few thousand miles on it, it would get to you faster, cars and trucks go by train, they are slow......patients, it will be worth it

This forum is for help not to bash on him... I get him because when you order your truck I imagine your very excited and can't wait for the day to come! its like a child waiting for christmas, And to have to wait an extra 17 days in terms of waiting thats like a year haha....I remember when I walked in the dealer and bought my truck they said they had to keep it for a day to add the alarm and some other options and I couldn't wait...And advice for the OP you should wait on it because I guarantee you there no better truck out there... you buy another truck you'd be waiting on it to get fixed because they're not as reliable or good looking as the 150.

the loan officer at my dealership ordered his last spring and it was just being built when I purchased mine in September. Demand is high, some parts are back logged. His was held up because of the Nav system.

So you're saying they don't have them on the lot? What kind of places don't have like 50 on the lot?

I went in on a Friday, we picked one out that had like 3 miles on it. It had just come in and hadn't even been processed. That took 45 minutes. I picked it up and signed papers on the next Sunday in about another 20 minutes. I realize that's ridiculously fast, but what's it like in other places?

I would like to know what option you want that isnt on a pickup on a lot. Why mist you special order? Do you want a latiat with cloth seats?

I plan on ordering my next powerstroke in 2013, and expect to wait 6 months.

A little research will help inform you what is the best route to take.. take a look at this link which will tell you the average time frame for ordering a vehicle.

What's the big deal? When I ordered my truck they told me it could take up to 4 months. It ended up taking about 10 weeks.

To the OP:
I can understand your frustration, but if you could not find the truck you wanted available and had to make a special order, then I would think that if you backed out of the deal and went with another brand that you would not find what you want there either and may have to make a new special order and start the waiting process over.

Alot more goes into a special order that is being made in a factory full of cookie cutter trucks than most people even know about. Keep in mind how popular the F150 is with the new engines available, exspecially to guys who have been driving 5.4's and 4.6's since '97. If it's truly the truck you want, then wait, even though it's killing you.

Good luck! Hang in there!
