Sorry to spam....

2011 Platinum with tow package "elephant ear" mirrors. I actually like them, however.....

The auto car wash busted the plastic on my passenger side mirror. Anyone that did this mod want to dump the stock mirror with the chrome cap, passenger side?

Cheers,
Mark

mods: Phillips head & fog lights, removed 4x4 stickers, rear wheel liner, WeatherTech grey mats, Michelin ATX's, Leer 550 lid

So i have a memory seats and was wondering if the only way to have memory mirrors as well is with the relay you guys talked about. Has anyone done this and had there vehicle reflashed and if so, what did it end up costing you.

First of all THANKS to Donsmar1 for all of his help in getting mine working properly, its guys like him that make these forums a great place for info and help. What we found out is this, not all wiring harnesses are the same on various f 150 models , they all seem to have different colors and may or may not have the necessary wires in place. what we know is that pin #7( power fold in ) and pin # 16 (power fold out ) are common on just about all of the ford mirrors. The plugs for my mirrors did not have any wires on these terminals so i ended up jamming a wire in the plug from behind to make contact with the pin on the mirror , i then siliconed it and tie wrapped it in place . The mirror switch plug on my truck did not have a wire on terminal #4 , so i had to repeat the silicone and tie wrap process there as well. It is very important to identify the terminals and make sure that they are wired correctly. I needed a magnifying glass to see the terminal numbers on all the plugs ( whether your an old buzzard like me or not you will probably need one ). I needed to run a wire from pin #7 and a wire from pin # 16 on the passenger door mirror plug to pins # 7 and # 16 on the drivers door mirror plug. From the # 7 wire on the drivers mirror plug ,i ran a wire to the # 6 wire on the mirror switch plug. from the # 16 wire i ran a wire to and inserted it in the # 4 terminal of the mirror switch plug because there was no wire there. Thats all it took to get my power folds working. Just rememeber, WIRE COLORS VARY SO GO BY THE PIN NUMBERS ON THE PLUGS.
Reviving an old thread here, but I just bought a FX-2 and had the dealer throw in the power fold mirrors as part of the deal. They wouldn't install them for me since there isn't a ford-approved kit. How did everyone run the wires for passenger side to drivers side? Inside under the dash or outside under the wiper shroud? It looks like drilling is unavoidable but I'd like some advice on where to do it to avoid water from getting into the door. Pictures would be great if anyone has them.

So the mod took longer than I thought, but was well worth it. I'm not sure if I want to stick with the chrome mirror caps. Also the PF driver's mirror doesn't have the blind spot mirror. Maybe i'll try switching caps and mirrors next.

I didn't have 2 available pin holes in the driver door harness connector, so I just threaded the wires underneath the clip. The connector sits on a painted rounded edge and I put some additional electrical tape to prevent wearing the insulation.

What did you do to enlarge the pin holes? Did you drill them out or stick a hot soldering iron through?
