I did have memory, heated to begin with.

My original painted caps even popped right on the 1aAuto mirrors just fine.

BTW, that passenger side 1aAuto mirror takes a while to get used to...the jury is still out weather i will put in the old glass or not....and i don't miss the auto dim at all...maybe if someone figures out how to mod these to put in the old glass, i might to it someday, but not now.

Almost wish I held out for the pf tow mirrors, maybe later, we'll see. Great forum, and great info...couldn't have done it without you guys!
Totally agree about the 1A passenger mirror, I called and had them check it out to make sure it wasn't a defect in the ones I bought. It was a long process but turns out that's just the way they are, being aftermarket was their only explanation. All I can say is try and use the little corner magnification mirror square, the main mirror WILL get you in a wreck, it's terrible. Passenger mirrors on ALL cars are de-magnified so you have a great field of view and can see blind spots etc. The 1A mirror passenger mirror is magnified, it's really strange and pretty dangerous, I can't even park using it. So my advice is to use that little square mirror only. If you find a way to replace the glass please let me know or at least post in this thread, would love to swap the glass out.

I'll just say that other than the passenger glass issue the 1A mirrors are great.

The Ford OEM powerscope mirrors have the same type of glass on the passenger side. Almost entirely useless for daily driving. I'm sure there's some advantage when hooked to a trailer but i haven't done that yet this season. I use the lower convex mirrors for everything.

Default Power Fold TOW Mirrors installed on XLT

Hey guys,

Using the amazing instructions provided in this thread, I was able to buy the aftermarket 2013-2014 Power fold tow mirrors + oem switch and wire them up clean and easy on my XLT. Might be my favorite add on so far!

Here's a couple videos of them installed and folding...the video makes them look jerky but they are smooth folding in and out.

As always, thanks all who contribute to this forum!

Can someone please post what part number the pins are for the connector at each mirror and the mirror switch?

I have the part numbers for the male and female pins at the molex connector (1438299-4 & 1719958-1), but having a really hard time finding the proper pin for the mirror locations.

Thanks!

You have the correct part numbers. 1438299-4 is the male connector on the cab side of the door jam. 1719958-1 is the female connector at the door side of door jam, mirror connector and switch connector.

Is it bad to manually fold a power fold mirror?

Default manually fold

I believe they are built to give if you smack it on something. I did. Like if your wiring shorts out or you have no power for whatever reason. I have manually folded mine a few times. No problems. I bet as long as you're not repeatedly doing it you'll be fine.

They're made to collapse if you walk into it, or if you drive forward into something. You should use the power fold button, when possible.

I am looking to do this mod and have a few questions. The part #'s listed above for the connectors is very helpful, but I am confused on how many connectors are actually needed and where each style connector goes? Also how hard is this mod if you choose not to drill the hole into the connector when routing the wires into the cab? Thanks!
