Check out the Flowmaster Oultaw series. Straight through design, Flowmaster sound. At least in theory.

And the reason not many FM owners are chiming in is because not many people run them anymore.

I used the 40 series on a 289 with Hooker Headers back in the 80's and it sounded great with no drone.

I decided to go with FM for my 2012 5.0 based on on past experience.

I went with the
Flowmaster 817478 Cat-back System - Dual Rear exit(super 50 series)

I wish I had not. The drone drove me crazy.
I removed it after 3000 miles.

I may try it with the resonator on but I think I would rather sale it.

I'd like to find someone who used the Super 44...
apparently the delta flow mufflers (super 40 and super 44) have less drone than the 40 series..and yes...they have a little but more "airey" sound...with a little rasp and crackle at the top.

I assume the Super 44 is the loudest? which one do you guys have and what did you like about it..and what made you choose over the other options... links to sound clips of your truck are always a plus oh...and DONT bother posting about how much you hate FM or how much you love your magnaflow or borla exhaust....please
I have had both at one time or another. I had a 2006 f150 5.4 with the supper 44 and it was more of a loud higher pitch sound. I currently have a 2011 fx4 5.0 that I put a 40 series. I also removed the resonator it has a much deeper tone and sounds great. I decided to go with the dump down setup. The pipe is a 3" all the way from the "y" to the turn downs. The flowmaster is a dual in single out.

Well it depends how you drive it. I like to hear the back pressure sounds or "gargle" when I'm slowing down but if you would normally drive it in "D" not in "M" it sounds smooth. No crackle just deep rumble.
