Default Floor jack and jackstands

Looking for recommendations for a floor jack and jackstands for my truck. I used to have a 3,000 pound craftsman before I moved, but I always had trouble getting the truck high enough to easily get the wheels off. Even with the stock wheels/tires. Looking to see what you all have that may better for working on my own truck at home. Thanks everyone.

I have an aluminium harbor freight rapid floor jack with steel stands. Works just fine.

6 ton stands are taller, now that I have a truck, I have both 3 ton and 6 ton stands for different vehicles. Costco has a nice 3 ton jack with a ~4" plate for under $100. Others like this are generally well over $100, so it's a good deal.

I have a Torin Big Red 3.5 ton floor jack and 1 set of truck 6 ton jack stands and a set of 5 ton car stands (shorter).
I use a 4X4 to jack on and can get my truck (stock 4X2 FX2) high enough to get stands under the frame.

I also have the 3.5 ton big red torin one. I think it's giving me some issues. When I raise the truck the handle doesn't stop, it rises. Also, the last couple times I haven't been able to turn he handle to release, I have to undo the screw for the handle extension and twist with a screw driver.

I also think it's leaking hydronic fluid. I found a couple drops after I lowered and moved it. It's red in colour.

As for jack stands I have 6k ones. I should upgrade them since my truck is slightly over that. However I'm only lifting a tire at a time, not the whole truck.

My dad (auto mechanic for 45 years now) used to always buy the expensive jacks like snap on, hein werner, etc. He had some that were amazing that he bought in 1975 that died in a fire. Since then every time he gets one it only lasts a year or so before issues, covered under warranty but still a pain to have to deal with.

A couple years ago he bought a harbor freight jack for 1/4 the cost. Still going strong and no issues. It is all he will buy now. If you use jack stands, like you should, then it shouldn't be any issue with the jack failing in a dangerous situation.

If the jack does fail, well he can replace it and still only spend 1/2 the cost of other "professional" jacks.

I purchased one on his recommendation and it has been great so far (had it for less than a year so can't comment on longevity).

Bought this to lift an Infiniti G35 but found it useful for lifting my truck. I have a 3 ton Craftsman as well and this one lifts higher.

My old man has an old jack that has got to be 30-40 years old and still works great. Recently upgraded to one of these that also works really nice. Does my truck w/ 34" tires and my uncles F350 w/ 450 springs just fine, no where near close to maxing out

I have a Craftsman 3-ton floor jack that does fine, although I'm pretty sure 3 tons is its weight; it's a heavy son of a gun, especially when I'm dragging it across the gravel driveway.

I have a 2-ton floor jack in my truck's toolbox, but it's so short that it barely lifts the truck high enough to change a tire.

For jack stands, I bought a set of six ton stands at Harbor Freight.

A hockey puck will get you another inch. I like to even use them on lower vehicles since they cushion the contact so well.
