+100. I can't believe all the whiners about fuel mileage. Go buy a hybrid or a Chevy Volt if they even make them anymore. It gets old that this forum is loaded with nothing but mpg thread. It's everyday at least 3-4 threads. It's just mind boggling to me.

I don't own an Ecoboost, but I have seen quite a few posts now from different folks that are not seeing what was advertised. I completely understand the frustration of the OP. Seriously...I am getting better fuel economy with my 6.2l than he was with a truck that was supposed to be "efficient".

There is something about this thread that just does not make any sense. My 5.4 would have made a 186 mile trip at 65 mph with an easy 18 mpg.

A couple of recommendations:

1. Ignore the lie o meter. It means nothing. It is not a true lifetime "avg" for your vehicle.

2. Should have stayed on the dealer to check out the truck. That truck should be getting better mileage.

3. I believe that no one would give up a new F150 with warranty, for a used "anything" without a warranty for just fuel mileage reasons. Something is missing in the story. Especially to buy a diesel. Regardless of hwy mileage, the cost of owning a diesel is higher per mile. Fact. More expensive to buy, to fuel, to maintain.

4. I would appreciate the OP giving us the real reason for going from a new F150 to a used pickup.

Just ironic though that 3 of the 4 Ecoboost 3.5L engines in my circle of friends are all getting poor economy.
5700 miles with 408 hours of time, either you idle a ton, or your average speed is extremely low. Regardless, GL with the diesel, my buddy just bought an 03 and loves it.

I find them entertaining as well.

Look a little closer, 15700 miles on the odometer. The trip meter starts over once it hits 9999.

Thought it might be a one, but the pictures pretty blurry.

1. Actually anytime I hand calculated, the lie-o-meter was always accurate +/- 1%.
2. They were going to start charging for scan time to check for codes. Ford bulletin stated unless there is a code there is no problem.
3. I drive an average of 3000+ miles per month and a great number of them are towing miles. Fact: the diesel truck cost me half what the Ecoboost sold for, I found a diesel truck that has had all the "issues" addressed already (GM known for injectors, tie rods, ball joints, T-case, etc. Done, done, done , and done.) I can get "farm" diesel for same as or less than gasoline.
4. The above should explain it, but just in case you need it spelled out for you again, "to control my costs".

I am sure some of you are having good experiences with your Ecoboost, or some that are just too proud to admit it is not as good as we were all led to believe it would be.

I have had 3 new F150's and a new F250 within the last 5 years. Two 5.4L, one 6.2L, and lastly the 3.5 EB. The tried and true 5.4L was by far the best of the group. The two new engines were huge disappointments.

I made a personal decision to go back to a pre-emission diesel.
Sorry to hear you didn't get a good EB....but glad I did.
As far as that 5.4L goes well if it was still in the F150 one wouldn't be sitting in my garage,I would have bought a Toyota,Chev or Dodge long before I would have owned another 5.4L.
Only reason I bought another F150 was the EB.
The EB has actually exceeded my expectations in performance(especially pulling) and in mpg.If I was getting 17l/100km Id be upset too.
