First-Time Truck Buyer W/ Some Questions
I'm new to the forum and looking to get my first truck! I'm just starting my research and will probably look to a used F150. I've heard that either the 2010 or 2011 Ford F150 had sealant leak problems that have since been resolved. Any feedback you can give me regarding this issue and which year had the issues would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for all your assistance!

Sealant leaks where? The 09-10s have the 5.4L motor carried over from the 04-08 trucks but do have the new 6 speed transmission. I would recommend if at all possible to get an 11 or newer because thats when they got the big info display in the cluster, electric power steering, integrated brake controller, available electronic locking rear differential, and of course, the 5.0 and 3.5 motors.

You may be thinking about the third brake light and satellite antennae leaks because of bad gaskets. It hasn't been solver per se but it's easy to fix yourself. Tell tell signs are sagging in the middle of the headliner and stains on the headliner.

I don't think it's a big issue. I and a few others I know have 11s and we never heard of this

My bad, the integrated brake controller was available on the 09-10 trucks, it's just a different unit with its own display. The 11+ is controlled through the informatics screen in the dash. Either way, it's hard to go wrong with an 09+, and some good deals can be had on leftover 13s that are still ondealer llots alongside the 14s. 2014 will be a short production year with the 15s entering production later this year, the new body style truck will drive down values of 09-14 trucks a bit when they hit the market, so keep that in mind when deciding when to make your purchase.

personally would wait until the later part of this year and pick up a '11-13 @ a steal.

I just got a Brand new '13 XLT Ecoboost Screw with the 302A package for an automatic 11.5 off the sticker price. With trade-in on my 04 and a few extra 500$ here and there I ended up getting about 20k off the sticker!!!!!! Amazinggggg! I'm lucky I live close to "Woodhouse" and they out sell all other ford dealers in the COUNTRY by more than double when it comes to the F-Series! So they are able to give amazing discounts! From what I heard from guys on here, the '13s and up are the way to go because ford has fixed a few mechanical issues here and there when it came to the plugs and phasers. I loveeeeeee this truck!!!
