Default First spark plug change

Hit 30k and changed the plugs today. Was pretty easy. My only recommendation is to spray the connectors at the coil packs with wd 40 prior to trying to remove them, it make them seperate much easier.

Why did you change the plugs? Evidence of misfire?

I did mine yesterday because I bought the truck used and has 95K miles. Was very simple to do. New plugs at .045, old ones were around .060. I could have re gapped and reused but I paid $4.50 a plug and it wasn't worth the time.

I did mine when I bought this one a month or so back. 95K miles. It was clear that the PO had taken care of this vehicle (evidence of regular maintenance).

Not sure why one would change 100K spark plugs @ 30K without issues occurring.

If it was an ecoboost, the change interval on plugs is 30k miles. Gap is very particular for them too.... no larger than .030.

Sorry, that's incorrect per the owners manual and shop/service manual.
100K is the correct interval for both the V8 and Eco.
I pulled mine at 63K and the gap was still ± .003 of .030 on my '13 Eco. I changed them with platinum NGK's to see if I could squeeze any more mpg as an experiment. For the record, no appreciable gain.

I hate threads like this..........I clicked on three thread in the last ten minutes and two of them talked about spark plugs and one the trans.........The trans people r saying the manual says to do it at 150,000 miles per shop manual and that's when u do it, the spark plug r saying do them at 30,000 but the manual says 100,000, SMDH and it hurts cause of this.

I'M SO CONFUSED................................

The manual lies. It also states you can change oil when the oil life monitor tells you to, and on the EcoBoost this has led to two different TSBs for failed cam phasers/timing chains.

It's really a good idea to cut maintenance intervals in half for the EcoBoost.

I pulled my 5.0s at 75,000 miles and it definitely needed it. The gap had opened up to 0.063-0.068

I had mine changed at 100K. The original plugs looked great. I had the dealer change mine. The plugs looked slightly sooty but no wear on the electrode.
