Default 2012 F150 FX4 Ecoboost with FX Appearance or wait for 2013?

Decisions, decisions...

I have a 2009 Mercedes C63 AMG and a 2005 4Runner V8 4x4 Limited. The C63 is my weekend or bad day car (it can make any bad day a good one, trust me) and my 4Runner is my daily driver. The 4Runner is getting a little old though with 140k on it. So I'm thinking of selling both and buying an F150. I need something that will tow around 5,500 pounds.

I found a 2012 F150 fairly close by with this configuration:

2012 F150 FX4 145" WB 5.5' Bed
+ Navigation
+ FX Luxury Package
+ 3.5L Ecoboost
+ Moonroof
+ Tailgate Step
+ FX Appearance Package
+ Trailer Brake Controller

MSRP is $48,740 after factoring in the FX Luxury and Premium discounts. I'm an X-Plan member so the X-Plan price is $44,462.

$44,462 - $1500 Customer Cash - $1000 FMCC + $750 Private Cash Coupon = $41,212

I then got them to throw in a Line-X Premium spray in bed liner ($575 or so) , full coverage floor mats ($75) and it comes with 36 gallons of fuel ($156).

The truck is Sterling Gray Metallic and is exactly what I wanted with the exception of the Max Tow package. Decent deal or should I wait for a 2013? I love the exterior of the truck but I'm not a fan of the red piping on the seats. I had also been looking at a 2012 F150 Platinum but I much prefer the look of the FX4.

Sweet truck but Ford is rumored to release the next gen F-150 in MY2014. Try finding out if your company offers X-Plan as well for additional discounts. I cant imagine the next gen F-150 being much better than this truck.

If I didn't know better, I'd say someone did a little swap with the center console cover in those pics.

Ya it should not have a wood finish on the center console.

I noticed that as well. I'll email the dealer to see if it's the lighting in the pics or if Ford messed up when the truck was built. It sure does look like the Lariat wood trim console cover. I couldn't imagine them swapping it when the rest of the trim is correct.

I bought a truck almost identical to that one. I absolutely freaking LOVE it!! Mine is Tuxedo Black with the appearance package......
Very, very, very similar features. A couple differences. I bought mine on X-plan also. Sticker price was $51k and change - I paid $42k and change. I got a Ford plastic bed liner, and the wheel insurance - price those black rims with the pirellis on em and you might consider the insurance also!
I got the tow package, although didn't need it. I did not get the navi system, I bought last minute at the end of year and they couldnt locate one with it. No moonroof either. Does have back up camera and tailgate step. Every thing else from what I can tell is identical. The ecoboost rocks!! It does have a rev limiter that kicks in at 100mph, not crazy about that, but that can be altered later. Full mats on mine also. I think you have the best deal you might get with your quote!

I don't know. Do you need a new truck now or 1 year from now?

Well I need a truck sooner than later. Every time I tow with my 4Runner I'm waiting for it to crap out. I have an offer on my C63 right now and my 4Runner is an easy sell. The 2013 probably won't have the same incentives early on but it probably will have HIDS, LED Tails, minor restyling and MyFord Touch.

I emailed the dealer in regards to the console cover. This salesman is going to hate me when he checks his email tomorrow. They have actually been pretty cool as I've done everything through email. They are sending the truck out for the Line-X install tomorrow morning if I give them the thumbs up. I've been pestering this dude all day about price, freebies, PINs, fuel, pictures, FMCC approval, etc.

I'll refinance it with PenFed in a month or so at 1.99 or 2.49% but I'll take the FMCC rebate.
