First long trip with the truck
I just wanted to take a few moments to share some pictures of my first trip with my 2011 Ecoboost.
With 4 adults, 2 dogs and a bed filled to the brim with camping gear it ran flawlessly. We averaged 20 mpg in the first 750 miles at a pretty much constant 70 mph. Combined mpg was 18.5 between the highway and mountain trail driving we did. About 1,300 miles of this trip was highway driving.
I love the smooth ride, great look, and power climbing the hills. Also having all the extra options to drop into M for the mountains and remove gears to help with engine breaking when coming down a decent hill was pretty fun.
All said and done the family had a great trip, I got to play with my new truck, and my wife didn't feel like we completely broke the bank on gas.

Yes I picked it up used this past winter, since then I have put around 9k on it with this trip. No issues to speak of once I replaced the stock sparkplugs.
The wheels are the standard 20" chrome wheels I have seen on a good portion of the XLT's. Personally I dislike them and would have preferred a 17" or 18" rim. But the deal was too good to pass up, so I just plasti dipped them and when the tires are worn I will most likely sell them and buy a new set.
All said and done I am very happy to have picked this truck over the Chevy or Dodge.

These F-150's are some of the best road trip vehicles on the road today. We took our previous '11 XLT on a nearly 5K road trip, and are planning now for one of the same length in our '13. I know cars get better mpg's, but the comfort and space are worth the difference to me.
