The Firestone by my house is horrible. My neighbor went to change his battery and they installed a wrong battery. The battery had lower amperage and the size was smaller, where it had play int the battery box. I have heard horror stories about that place. Including the one posted here.

I don't change my own oil in my 150 but I do in my 88' Ranger. The oil pan you're referring to isn't given to you at least not where I live. I bought the pan and take the oil in to Autozone to recycle. I look at it like as my truck cost 40k and I'll spend a few extra dollars to go to the dealer. With my oil chance card every other change is free ( or prepaid however you look at it ) for life of the truck. I like the dealer to give it a look over since in my eyes it's fairly new truck to me (2010 25k miles) and don't see it as being lazy. My wife's 13' Highlander goes to the dealer also.

Follow up from Firestone today.

Getting a full refund. Also, the mechanic got fired. I feel bad for him losing his job, but maybe next time he will follow the proper steps.

The guy that changed the oil was really called a mechanic?

Seriously though, I blame the prices of these quick lube oil change places. What do you expect for $29.99 or $39.99 etc? Of course they are going to put their most inexperienced tech on it who makes $15/hr and they are going to be riding his *** to get oil changes done in 15 minutes and do three per hour. If I ever have to take my cars in for an oil change because I am unable to do my own, I sure as heck will pay the premium at the dealer so I know there is someone remotely competent (I use this term loosely) working on my truck.

Hello,

My name is Tom and I am with the Firestone Complete Auto Care Corporate Offices. I would like to apologize for the unfortunate experience you recently had at our Air Force Base location and see what I can do to help make things right. An oil out situation is something we take very seriously and I would like to make sure your concerns get in to the hands of the right people. Please message me at social@bfrc.com with the invoice number from your service and your post here so that we can help.

Best Regards,

Tom

The Works Fuel Savers Oil Change at Ford dealers has for years been between $29.00 and $39.00 and many times included a rebate of $10.00! Not only do you get the oil (FMC Synthetic Blend) and FMC filter, but you also get tires rotated and numerous inspections.

Do you think if you instead insisted that you wanted to pay $79.00 or more for the same services at the dealer you would get a more experienced person working on it, instead of the one who does the Works Fuel Savers changes?

I have used various dealers throughout the country taking advantage of the price of the Works Fuel Savers Package. This when I have been working out of town and couldn't do my own services. Only one time has something not gone exactly like it should. They rotated the tires wrong, and they redid it correctly before I left.

Places like Jiffy Lube, Kwik Kar, Wal-Mart, etc will never see my car or truck on their lifts.
