Sweet! I have the hornblasters. The only thing i reccommend is when you wash your truck spray off the hose to the tank and compressor to prevent (somewhat) prevent rust. And good idea mounting them backwards on my diesel i had them along the frame pointed outwards and they would pick up snow and crap so id have to cover them. I havent gotten around to installing them on this truck but cant wait

Heres a cheap quick cellphone video froom lastyear on my other truck

Right on man looks good...But those are air horns not train horns. Like comparing apples to oranges competely different tone. A true train horn is a Nathan Airchime Or Leslie. Go to www.trainhornforums.com there's some pretty cool people over there and I learned a ton of info. Here's my Nathan Airchimes k5la with a 12 gallon firestone air tank and dual Viair 380c Compressors. This was on my old truck which i took off when I sold it, and will eventually mount on my 12' Eco. I also had some cheapy 5 trumpet Siege Engineering ones mounted behind my grill. I remember I used to think they were loud, then when I got my nathans and hit them for the first time I almost ***** myself..You feel it in your chest and it will vibrate your shirt off. I have some videos of both setups some where I'll try to dig up

Ya man I didn't mean to sound like a dick I was just letting you know what I've learned. Because back when I had my Chrome 5 trumpets I used to call them train horns all the time too until I got more into horns. It's pretty crazy those guys over on trainhornforum really get into it. There's a few people on there with Ferry horns like off a big cruise ship. They're called kahlenbergs and they are ridiculously deep sounding. There's all sorts of crazy horn setups out there the possibilities are endless.

I could have used them today. This Jerk just about rode up my butt at a stoplight. I put it in reverse to back him off and to catch him in my back up camera, but the train horn would have made it perfect!

:D That's the fun part...I made a drunk bum fall off his bike. I normally Don't honk them at random people but this guy decided to ride his bike off the curb into the car lane right in front of me...Big truck with 40's doesn't stop like a Ferrari so I did the next best thing.

Love the set up, only thing I would have done different is put them behind the front bumper (thats where mine are) or in the bed of the truck. I don't know where you live, but if they put any salt on the road your kinda skrewed. We run 18 wheelers and every single one has either nathans, leslies, whistles, bells, or fog horns. I don't know how many we have had to clean because of salt clogging up the octaves and rusting the fitings. I would see if you could custom fab a box for them with a vent on the back for wintertime. This would save you numerous headaches down the road. Good luck!
P.S. I'll post pics of my set up when I get home |
I live in Texas don't need to worry about that nothing happen to the last one I had on the old truck . And as I said before theres a winch getting put behind the bumper.
|
I have a video but it pretty bad I had to prop it against a tire so all u see is the roof of my truck.
|
My buddy works as a shop foreman for a bunch of over the road tractors, and one of his drivers got a ticket for the horns being to loud. Make a long story short, he found out the driver installed some horns that were swiped from an actual train, even has a tag on it saying "...property of BNSF yadda yadda, fine of up to $10k for possesion..." Needless to say, he took them off and did the next best thing, installed them on his beater toyota tacoma! Those things are so big, you have to have a 5 gallon tank to even fire them! The air line is either 5/8" or 3/4" I can't remember, but it is huge!
He came up behind me once when I was obliviously driving and hit that thing, I nearly had a heart attack, and thought for sure I was going to be run over by a train. And then there was that stuck up bicyclist that wouldn't follow any traffic laws........... |
there u go. there ok videos lol |
Sounds great

Nice truck. I was kinda hoping you would have drivin by the camera, with the horn going, similar to a train driving through an intersection. Get that coming and going effect......:D |

I just have a little nautilas air horn. Its the bolt on kind that plugs in to your existing wiring. It sounds louder, and people tell me it sounds like a train, but I don't think its even close. That's next on my list, but I gotta convince the wife first ;)
