I kinda meant that VW has never had a very good track record in reliability. And when big things go wrong it can cost big $$$.

All great points. Thanks!

Travel Trailer was a rental, so no need to worry about pulling that again.

Wife drives a 6.0 Yukon Denali. This will pull the boat fine.

Never needed a truck, but I live in Texas. I don't need cowboy boots either, but I own them. lol

I noted the 100K extended platinum level warranty for the VW. I go through vehicles like Obama goes through excuses. After 100K, I'll get another something or other.

The comment about TDI forms was a good one. I spent way too much time surfing those sites for data. As with most sites, you hear a lot of bad news. What I didn't see was such an obvious concentration of posts around a single issue. The whole ecoboost loss of power, shuttering, check engine light, CAC, reprogram the computer topic is widespread and has been seriously trending in the wrong direction over three years. Just my opinion...

I got the extended warranty on mine. Just hope I don't have to use it.

Doesn't apply to the Passat. It uses a air water intercooler that isn't subject to icing. That said it would be ironic if someone got rid of an ecoboost because of intercooler water issues only to buy one of the VW's that ices, since when they do instead of limp mode and a cel the engine usually hydro locks.

He had a bad coil and plug not the water from the CAC.
Unless water from the CAC could cause the plug and coil to short??

Default EAPS failure

Big Mike I have been following your posts regarding your experience with your F150 EAPS. My 2011 SCREW Ecoboost had been subtly experiencing symptoms related to the EAPS before my warranty expired. Now that I have almost 55K on it I have been getting a "service advance track" annunciator especially when maneuvering a trailer. I finally took it to my dealership and they recommended replacing the steering gear at a cost of $2200. I contacted Ford customer service today and hopefully they will kick in at least for the cost of the parts ($1400). It is now Good Friday and the CSR, Jeff Reid is supposed to get back to me on Tuesday. Hopefully they will provide relief as they did for you.
I just want to thank you for providing all the posts regarding your experience. And btw, if any Ford CSR's are monitoring this, the case number is #CAS4289362.

I don't know how anyone can go without a truck or SUV unless you live in an apartment or pay for everything to be done. Obviously you needed one while doing home improvements, pulling a boat and camper. Don't know how you can go from a 'do everything' truck to an econobox car. I see at least a tow capable SUV in your future.

Okay see your wife will be driving the big truck (SUV) from now on. Hum, does that mean she wears the pants?

^ believe it or not, A LOT of people around here and moreso around the world do live without a truck their whole life... their neighbors, parents, friends don't have one either, and somehow, they manage... crazy, right?
