Default Finally- New Tires, A Little Offroad Testdrive w/ Pics

I finally got new tires just in time for hunting season and winter. I decided to go with GY Duratracs because of all the good reviews in snow and performance off-road. I upsized to 275/70r18- one size taller from stock without going wider for better performance in snow. I went deer hunting and took them for a little off-road test yesterday. All in all this little jaunt was a test drive of all the mods- Bilstein 5100’s, Generalspring AAL, and tires- as a package; so far so good. Where the stock tires had trouble gripping in the rocky section pictured below, the Duratracs climbed without issue. The true test will come when I hit this section after a snowfall.

I creeped down this section last year after a snowfall using 4L/1st gear and after I cleared the rocks and straightened out, all four tires broke loose. The truck slid down to the bottom of the hill, stopping about a foot or so from hitting the cattle fence at the bottom; hence the road armor bumper. This is also the same road that I scraped the undercarriage on while driving in deep ruts. The ruts are worse this season and I cleared the section without issue. So far I am happy with the tires, 5100s, and AAL. I wish I could top off the post with a pic of a deer in the bed, but unfortunately I didn’t knock anything down.

Nice looking truck man. I am usually not into those bulky bumpers but I think it looks good on your set-up. Do you have the 5100s set at the stock level on the front? Also, did the AAL raise your your back end at all?

Nice setup. Those DuraTracs are a beast in the snow.

Thanks, the 5100s are set at the 1.5" level- one notch below max. The AAL did raise the rear-end about 1.75".

Nice looking truck OP. I recently bought the same tires in stock 275/55 R20 size. Can't wait to try them out in snow.

I just got General AT2s on the other day. Also went 275/70/18 on stock rims. so far I'm pretty happy with them, but we hit the weather lottery and haven't had snow yet this year.
