Liking the output. Stinks but I am waiting until I get my retrofit headlights and custom wiring harness that already has a power source to splice in to my brights. Don't really feel like wiring it up twice... Can't wait to use it this summer tho, drive a lot of night backroads with lots of critters.. should make it stupid easy to see them.

Like the look of it behid the grill. I am going for a stealth look behind mine wouhout cutting, I don't think it will cut into the light too much.
Quick question, did you have to drill a hole in the grill support or did you use one that was already there? I am thinking of just using some washers and nylon locking nuts to adjust the spacing and then lock it into place, would be sweet if it lines up in the top gap of my '12 grill without even having to drill holes..

Behind the grill will be fine in regards to light.
I just wanted the LED's show and be as bright as possible.
Good luck mate

I decided I didn't like the switches I had for my Rigid reverse lights and the SR light bar.
I removed them and just installed a set that look a little more factory and easier to find in the dark.
They are lit with one light (very dim like dash) when truck is on and then a larger much brighter light when you activate the switches.
My reverse lights auto on when I go in reverse and SR auto on's when I hit the brights. Really wont use the switches often but when needing some light when trucks off these will be handy.
I also installed it in a 3 switch panel so I have an open slot for future accessories.
Here are the old switches (small round black with red lights) I had and the new ones the longer square ones with blue lights
Looks better I think.

Alright, dannytexas, come on up to Iowa and do the exact same thing for my FX4!
Really, superb work there. Love what you did. Still trying to decide if I want to go with D2s beside the license plate, or go the SR 30" route like you - and if so, whether to cut the grille or place behind...
Decisions, decisions....

I was going for the center stack but sometimes when I need light when I'm I outside its easier to open the door and the switches are right there.
If they are in the center my short **** can barely reach in and hit the switches.
Only question now is what do I slap in the 3rd available slot in the plate?!?!

A suggestion would be to go big on the first go so you have no regrets.
If you are anything like me you'll buy the D2's and then shortly after wonder if you should have gone SR for my light. I'm sure the D2's are great but the SR is greater.
In regards to the SR- grill you could wire everything up as that won't change with your final mounting location.
Then put the light bar behind the grill and use vice grips or small clamps to attach it to the grille braces. Shut the hood and turn on the light, if you're happy with the light and looks then drill the holes and mount and your done.
However after clamping and turning on you feel it looks better like mine you can cut the fins.
With small wire cutters you can cut the fins at the bases and it will take about 5 minutes, honestly it's very fast with no measuring cause you cut at the base all around the parameter and the piece falls out.
Reclamp the bar sticking through the grille, drill and bolt, done.
Let me know if you need more info or have any questions.

SIZE MATTERS
I would argue, respectfully of course, that the 40" is over kill behind the 6 bar grille. I think too much light would be blocked because of the double stacked LEDs. This is why I decided to go for the SR series. Also I chose the 30" because it fits almost too perfectly in the gaps between the 6 bar. All I needed was 2 small spacers on either side of the supports and it works great.
I'm not trying to dis your setup tho...I wish I had a 40" SR series. My buddy has one on his f150 behind a mesh grille and it is way too bright lol.
I also saved a ton of cash stepping down a bit.
