Too many conflicting ideas for wheel/tire combo?
I have a 14 white screw 6.5' box fx4 with the appearance package. I leveled the truck by removing the rear blocks. I have always liked the "sport truck" look, but I tow a lot and in Wisconsin, street tires don't make sense. I have picked out some new rims, upsizing to 22's and I am looking for tires for them. Because I tow so much, I would like to have a LT tire with a heavier sidewall. Long story short, after finding that lt tires are quite difficult to find in 22" size -without requiring a lift to fit the wheels- I have come up with the Nitto terra Grapplers in LT285/50R22. How stupid will it look to have a "sport truck" rim, a low profile "off road" tire, on a "leveled by lowering" appearance package truck? I am just looking for thoughts or if I should go back to the drawing board.

Personally, I think it would look just fine. But the fact of the matter is, it's really your own personal opinion that counts the most. There will always be h8ters so there's nothing you can do to change their opinions.
I have a 2WD now and will also be going the 22" route (22x9.5" +20mm to be exact). I've attached images of 2WD SCs with 22's and they only have a 2" front leveling kit installed (2WD's don't have any rear blocks, in case you didn't know). The white F150 has Toyo M/T's while the bronze has Nitto Terra's. I haven't decided between the Toyos or Nittos, though I'm leaning towards the Nitto's since they're priced much lower. I had Terra's on my previous '09 4WD and I loved them.

I forgot to add that those are 305/45R22's (Terra's) and 33x12.5x22LT's (M/T's), so they're taller than the tire you are looking at and may require slight trimming of the inside corner of the lower plastic valance on the bottom of the front bumper.

Opinion:
I think you do have a real conflict. 22s are for show, not work. Nothing wrong with the looks of 20s, and there are a lot more tire options without a lift.

Sounds like it would have a very different look. My truck was setup similar when I bought it used. The rear block had been removed, 4x4 decals removed, and the exhaust had a resonator delete OEM exhaust with the exhaust tip deleted after the axle. I thought it was a 2wd and actually looked over it when searching for a truck.
I say go for it. It would be +10 on originality and since you have an appearance package, it makes sense to go with the sport truck look.
I went with a leveling kit/stock block/stock exhaust and replaced the 4x4 decals. I think there's lots of trucks that look similar to mine where I live, I just blend in now. Lol.

Thanks augster, I was having trouble finding any decent pics of a 22 with an AT tire that wasn't lifted. I think I may go for it, we will see what the tireshop can do for pricing!
