I've seen these being transported with some sort of vinyl covering the whole front including the windshield. That could leave a residue! Goo Gone, rubbing alcohol possibly.

I noticed this today when it was cool this morning, 3C. It seems to be there for a brief time every time the wipers pass, then clears.

Is this normal??? I never noticed it before that I can remember like this on other trucks...

Use your favorite glass cleaner and wipe it with newspaper (not paper towels or rags).

I know that its a new truck.. But possibly the window is etched from a drip or something.. Had a friend park in a garage where there was a drip coming from the concrete ceiling on to his rear window.. Left it there for a couple of hours. Now he cant get it off and has to get a new one... Hope this isnt your case.. But id take it back to the dealer to see if he'll remedy the situation.. GL.

It could be a mineral deposit from something splashed on it. I would try CLR first. If that didn't work I would clay bar it.

I'm also having the problem of some sort of film on the exterior glass. It is not limited to the front windshield either as it's also on the door glass. There's no doubt it's the exterior. The windshield wipers with washer fluid doesn't even touch it.

Safelite window cleaner is going to be attempted shortly. Not sure if it will work though.

My truck is barely over 3 weeks old now and this has just developed. All the glass was cleaned inside and out just over a week ago and it was perfectly, sparkly clean.

The look is very specular with no streaks or blotches. Almost like a super fine mist landed on the glass.

OMG, I just thought of something, a recent upgrade. I had a Line-X bed liner applied Friday afternoon. There could be a chance this was from that process even though they take special care to protect the entire truck.

For others experiencing this film-like look, have you also had a bed liner sprayed recently?

My sister washed her car with one of those all in one soap wax products.
When we got caught in the rain coming back from Boston we had to pull over because it was impossible to see at night, the water would not squeegee off with the wipers it was ridiculously dangerous.
I forgot what cleaned it off after washing it could have been vinegar.

Well, the glass cleaning clay seems to do the trick. I'll get a good workout in the process no doubt. The more telling proof will be tomorrow in the sunlight. The light in garage seems to be enough proof, however.

There's now no doubt in my mind now this is an overspray from the bed liner process. The clay clearly had black streaks in it before folding over into a new section. I may need more than one bar for this process and this stuff doesn't come cheap.

An email was penned to the company that applied the Line-X bed liner. It'll be interesting to see what they have to say.

What was the final outcome? My new truck has the same issues with almost
like a smearing with the wipers when its raining.

Thanks
Brian
