Default Filling the Sony Sub...

I've read about several people filling their Sony sub-woofers with a foam or some kind of poly fill. Does anyone have photos? Does it really make a big difference? If so, how? Any comments appreciated!

There's a thread about it somewhere. I did it and it made a huge difference! The sub hits way harder now. It's very easy to do. Just unbolt your sub from the floor (4 bolts) and unplug the harness, unscrew the sub from the enclosure, then fill it with polyfill or "pillow filler" and put it all back together! Very easy mod.

It made a differents for sure with mine. But honestly glad it was only a few bucks for enough poly to do 4 trucks. It wouldnt be a mod id spend more than 4-5 bucks on.

Herby, being technologically challenged I can't copy the link. But, search this heading, "How to make your factory Sony Sub sound better". It's under the 2009 - present section. It's very easy to do. I used an old bed pillow, cut it open, and used the poly fill.

Slows down the sound waves making the box act like a larger in closure . Should only make it more responsive in the lower bass notes

i think it made a difference, very easy to do and cost me zero due to the couch pillows needing replacement!

Made a difference in mine. Those that claim it made o difference possibly put too much fill in. I had to take some back out so I made the same mistake. Wal Mart has two different bags in different weight or density and I am sure that makes a difference too. I used the heavier density and cost was like $4 and maybe 30 minutes time. Makes noticeable difference.

Pulled mine out and put in 2 - 10" Punch 1's under back seat. Made a HUGE difference in sound of the under designed Sony system.

Here's the link to the thread: https://www.f150forum.com/f38/how-ma...-better-77667/
There are pics in the thread that show how much filling you should put. It makes a difference, but don't expect it to sound or pound like an aftermarket amped sub. For $5, it's worth the minimal effort for sure!
